There’s a decent amount of people in Utah who follow the Utes because they are NOT the team down south, especially non-LDS who are relative newcomers to the state, and Ex Mormons. But, if Utah ever gets an NFL team, look for a significant impact on attendance.

Although NIL and the transfer portal still makes it mostly a travesty.

In my opinion, SLC will never get an NFL team in our lifetime. Other than maybe fleecing multi-billionaires with expansion fees, the NFL is so successful that it doesn’t need to expand. In the minds of many, all that will do is add another unnecessary seat at the table and cut down revenue for existing franchises.

I really don’t think the religious stuff has anything to do with us not getting an NFL team. I think it comes down to two main points.

      1. We don’t have any native Utahns rich enough. The commanders just sold for 6 billion. It would take all 7 of our states billionaires to purchase a team but that would tie all of their net worths into that franchise and it would be only the cost to purchase the team nothing else. That’s not happening. Outside of native Utahns I don’t see anyone moving their franchise to the state. There is no economic reason to do so.

      2. If expansion happens, I truly believe it will be an international expansion. I have no idea how they would do it. But with how many games are played overseas now, you don’t just do that for kicks and giggles.
