UCLA is very familiar to us albeit the players are different.
They have a new OC from Indiana. A lot of film study on Indiana has been done.
Big, strong, and talented QB from Tennessee.
We will likely make a lot of early adjustments because we really do not know what UCL will do.
We have a lot of new faces on the team this year.
We are excited about the things we are doing on offense. The defense has had a hard time stopping them.
They guys who were here for last season’s debacle want to get the bad taste out of their mouth.
We need to see how the guys react. We will likely have some surprise players.
It’s tough to manage a roster with two portal windows. We did pretty good with the portal this year.
It’s a challenge dealing with the finances.
What we have seen from Merriwether has been very good. He is a big kid who gets the contested balls.
Playing a P4 team in week one gets the attention of the team. He would prefer a lesser opponent to get the team ready for the season.
UCLA has some good D-linemen. On paper – this is our best Oline we have ever had. They are the starting point for the offense.
He would not have come back if he still didn’t enjoy it.
UCLa’s QB is a duel threat player. He isn’t easily tackled. He is impressive. Looks like Cam Newton.
Somehow we need to get college football to the point where we have a salary cap, etc. The current situation is NOT sustainable.
It is important to establish the passing game. Teams will stack the box against us because of Dampier’s running ability. That should open up the passing game.
We do not know what the new Off coordinator will do at UCLA.
Dampier is very illusive. There will be designed runs and he will escape the pocket too.
He says he has mellowed a bit over the years. He claims to be a better listener and be more patient.
Our secondary will be very important. We cannot afford to blow assignments. We have an experienced Def backfield back.
