OR had planned to expand to FIVE shows a year and were ready to sign a contract through 2023

this is a rest read by Gehrke and shows just how badly Herbett et al mismanaged this negotiation

for those that want to blame the retailers they were exercising their free market choices. And they choose to take their business and their money elsewhere.

I did not know that OR had gone to DC to meet with bishop et al and were basically told to take a hike.

EDIT: call me skeptical about this. http://www.sltrib.com/news/4956555-155/trusting-in-trump-utah-lawmakers-back

Republicans need to wake up. They are still stuck in the 1950’s (as are a lot or Church leaders) and need to realize that the days of “daddy knows best” are over.

The world is so much more intelligent now. You can’t hide this crap as well anymore.

This is obviously part of a master plan to improve the downtown parking problem by getting rid of all those pesky conventioneers. Bravo lawmakers!

Gadzooks that is genius! Plus it will cut down on air pollution because they won’t need to bring all those goods here to display for vendors, hotels heating and cooling bills will go gown and restaurants won’t have to serve as much food or employ as many people.  Sheer genius!!

This is what republicans can’t get through their heads: Not everyone is a greedy piece of s**t. Herbert goes into these negotiations with the attitude of, “we will give them lower costs, increasing their profits and they will do what we want them to do.”

And guess what? There is more to life than money.

Republicans can’t fathom people like Buffett, who talk about how screwed up the tax system is and how it hurts those in the lower tax brackets while providing corporate welfare to the rich. They think, “Why is he complaining? This all benefits him.” They just don’t understand that sometimes you are willing to give up certain things for the overall good of the country and world.

I was having a conversation with my family the other day. My sister in law was talking about how she loves the flat tax in Utah. I showed her how the flat tax screws her over and helps me out. I showed her how the flat tax would cost her thousands more a year and cost me tens of thousands less a year. Her retort? “See, you should love the flat tax.”

I told her that made no sense. I’d rather her have extra money every month and me pay a little more and improve everyone’s life. She said that would be dumb for me. And round and round we went. She just couldn’t understand why I’d feel this way (the ironic thing is, we never even got to the part where it is good for me to have her have more money, because poor people spend money, better off people save money, so when poorer people have money, everyone gets richer but when only rich people have money, everyone gets poorer).

My point? There is more to life than money, and sometimes some of us realize that and are comfortable where we are and we want to leave this place a little better than we found it.

But whatever, we thank thee oh god for a profit, right?

OMG I read this and I swore I wrote it or something similar a few years back on utefans. I do have some great heroes in my life, my father who was a true family man that always took care of us all; Franklin D. Roosevelt who gave us the middle class; Warren Buffett and Bill Gates….billionaires who want life for the middle class and poor to get better. I only have one thumbs up to give but it is yours.
