Buk Mawut Buk, now 25, pleaded guilty to Lowe’s murder and the attempted murder of a woman injured in the shooting on Sept. 26, 2021, Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill said. Police say he fired multiple shots at the two during a heated argument after the football player asked Buk’s friends to move their car.

The alternative is that Whittingham remains for another two, three, five+ years. Like Bill Snyder and Kirk Ferentz, his is devoted to his team and college football.
He has the support from the AD, boosters, the local and national media, respect of the larger network of coaches, most fans, and most importantly Utah Ute coaches and players. He…[Read more]

The cost of holding off on Rising in 2023, assures his QB1 position for 2024. Not many coaches (or players) have the commitment and patience. Lets hope it works in 2024.

When I first saw Ja’Quinden run, he reminded me of Eric Dickerson, both with a upright, darting running style. If he does end up at SMU, I expect they may see the similarities. Potential – who knows, JJ may not be able to pound it out. Dickerson had a running partner however, Craig the other half of the ‘Pony Express’.
Not so fun fact:…[Read more]

tarheelute replied to the topic Final PAC-12 All-Conference Teams in the forum Football 3 months, 1 week ago
Performance on the field should absolutely determine all-conference teams. But for my money, Bishop’s dominating performance, on-the-field IQ and leadership, relentless effort, should be rewarded. He was 1st team quality. If he returns for 2024 he will prove it.
And Bullock over Bishop, really? For the last two seasons, I’ve joked that teams…[Read more]

Pre-season expectation: an 9 win year, including a bowl game (expecting the Las Vegas Bowl)
Otherwise:
1. Beat the P12 Killers USC & UCLA – done! Bonus one of the OR/WA games.
2. Win and 3rd PAC-12 – Unlikely, but reasonable.
3. Win the Rose Bowl – The Dream!
4. Go to the Playoff – The Fantasy!

What is expected of Cam and Kuthie, when and if they ever return? How they played in 2021/22? Really? How can we ever expect them to play with such abandon and fierceness again, considering their past injuries. What lessor version of themselves would we be happy with, particularly if when they get banged up.
Better to have never planned or…[Read more]

Many, if not most, of us have watched all six OoC games. Both teams have won against decent opponents or rivals.
How many wins will each have on Nov 25th?
Utah: 8 wins with losses against USC, Oregon, and Washington. I’m circling Utah against Oregon State, with Utes dominating on defense.
Colorado: 7 wins, with the Buffs beating both Arizona t…[Read more]

Disappointment – Utah with 9-4 record.
Surprise – Utah with a 11-2 record.
Disappointment – Next year’s starting QBs, WRs emerge, winning the bowl game in Las Vegas, and heading into 2024 on a positive note.
Surprise – Running backs and the defense rule, with Rising and Kuithe returning, remaining healthy, close to their former selves.

A homer or someone who is enthusiastic about 2023. Otherwise 12-0 (13%, 26 Votes) of the board are homers as well.

The back-to-back BYU wins in 2006 “Harline’s still open” and 2007 “..doing what’s right on and off the field…. Magic happens” are particularly painful. But the pain eased with Utah’s “Shock and Awe” shellacking of BYU in 2011 – part of a nine game win streak.
Note: My wife had invited some BYU ‘friends’ (a young family of six) over for the…[Read more]

The PAC-12 losing USC and UCLA has already created the “worst case” scenario. The PAC-12 is toast.
The PAC-12, has and will ultimately be unable to acquire a lucrative TV/Cable rights contract – that is with competitive income streams and brand exposure.
Oregon and Washington will lose patience. I expect the Utah AD and Coach knows it, and…[Read more]

tarheelute replied to the topic What is your most memorable play in Utah football history? in the forum Football 1 year, 4 months ago
Beating BYU never far from my mind, sorry, but 40 unanswered points in the 2nd half, a fumble return of 57 yards for a TD, Utah wins 54–10.
Very satisfying. Covey’s punt return against Oregon hard to pick over. You had to be there.
tarheelute replied to the topic Who do we cheer for in remaining games? in the forum Football 1 year, 5 months ago
Not rooting for UCLA, but if Utah and UCLA win-out its the clearest path back to the Rose Bowl.
Otherwise, both UCLA and USC can lose every game, leaving Oregon and Utah to fight it out.

Field position: Nothing to be done about the kicking game, it seems.
