I don’t think there is any doubt that our basketball team is not good. Maybe the worst since coach K’s second year here. How has he let this happen? IMO, it is mostly because he loses good players every year. We are not Duke and cannot bring in 5 new 5 star kids every year.
He will not be fired this year and I am not saying that he should be. We need to see improvement as this year goes on. We need to see between 7-9 wins in conference. (I know that isn’t good, but that would still be improvement.) Next year, with the addition of new recruits – we need to be a top 40 team and get an NCAA bid. If not – coach K should be let go at the end of next year IMO.
Coach K had a couple of very good seasons. But, he needs to keep improving and developing the team. This year is bad. This is not where our basketball program should be. We had a rich basketball tradition. I know we had fallen off the cliff before coach K got here and he helped get us respectable again. But, this team is … You fill in the blank.
