Quote from Whitt:
“Smith Snowden is looking good on offense,” Whittingham said. “That’s been a good addition for us. And Lander Barton’s doing some good things on offense, so we’ve got a lot of options right now.”
I know some on here do not like guys coming over from the defense. I like it if done sparingly and in the right situations.

Thanks for posting. Good article. I also saw an interview with Merriwether and he said the offense was simple and similar to his past offenses. No more “ he hasn’t grasp the offense yet” after 2 years.

You mean Jake Troll. He kisses BYUs ass because it gives him ratings. Every headline is anti Utah or pro BYU which in both cases draw in BYU fans.

I tell my BYU fan friends that if they want BYU athletics to be a true “missionary tool” that they should really be targeting BYU to be not “excellent” in athletics, but “above average” in athletics. This because I think that BYU is most “loveable” to non-Mormons when they play the part of the scrappy and charismatic overachiever. If BYU were to…[Read more]

Well, that video does it for me. I’m renouncing my Utah fanhood- I’m buying BYU season tickets and joining that party! Forget the Muss, I want to sing Don’t stop believin’ at the top of my lungs with those mouth breathers and super soakers! I’ve always been a closeted Cougar Tail lover, according to my web search history anyway. They are so…[Read more]

I’ve read through a lot of the YouTube comments recently and noticed the exact same thing.
It’s hilarious and pathetic at the same time that byu fans collectively in the comments act like a 5-year old kid that didn’t get what he wanted and stomps his foot and throws a mild temper tantrum when something said isn’t 100% positive and glowing about…[Read more]

I think receiver is going to be successful through the collective rather than an individual standout. I would be shocked if we have anyone get more than 750 receiving yards this year but rather 5 guys who get around 400

It’s nothing earth shattering. I liked the part about Dampier pushing the receivers all summer.

Have experienced and witnessed pleasant respectful interactions between our fans and visiting fans from many of the schools in our new conference and perceive that gave them a positive perception of our fan base.
I commented before that their only disappointment after hearing ‘bear spray’ allegations may that they couldn’t buy a cold refreshing…[Read more]

BYU fans embraced the Big 12 and were thrilled to get in. Some Utah fans made it sound like we were above the Big 12. BYU fans jumped on that premise posing as Ute fans. Then we lay an egg in the first season. Last year we had a target on our backs. BYU had a good year and will get their fans back to being obnoxious. The target is on them this year.

I get your concern about the unknowns on offense but you may be placing the bar too high. In the past we have had success without dominating the DBs and have not had to make all the 50/50 plays. I think, like in the past, the passing game needs to be competitive against the pass defense and make their share of plays. Against our own DBs my hope is…[Read more]

Million dollar question. How good is Nico? 6’5 220 with big arm and running skills. Former 5 star from Southern California coming back home to play. Led Tennessee to the CFP last year as a redshirt freshman. He played good early but struggled at times late. I don’t think he has the weapons at UCLA that Tennessee had. Could be a QB showdown. Sim…[Read more]

I want say I am “not drinking the cool-aid”, I always drink a little (or a lot) before the first game. I am cautiously optimistic, considering what I see as a return to the hard-nosed defense priority, albeit with a hope that the offense is heading in a positive direction.
An away game, but I expect the Ute defense to be ready, Utah 34, UCLA 27.…[Read more]

I’m unsure what to expect since there are so many unknowns for both teams. I do not have high expectations at this point, but I do have high hopes.
1. I hope our very experienced and talented Oline helps our offense be very productive.
2. I am excited to see what our new QB and RB can do.
3. Has Scalley and the Dline coaches developed some new…[Read more] -

No doubt on that! I’ve wanted him to play a Percy Harvin role since I saw his HS Soph tape before he got on campus and I’ve got the downvotes to prove it.
Many moons ago, HS QB’s were really only suited to being the Quarterback. Now, they are typically the best athlete on the team that can also throw. And if you look at the success Whitt has…[Read more]

I don’t have any predictions for the game but I do have some concerns that I will be watching for during fall camp.
1. Center of lines: Utah is returning all starters on the O Line, but the interior has gotten beaten badly the last two years. On the other side, Utah is replacing the 3 who got the most time at DT the last two years with people…[Read more]

My bad bro! Never said he should be our starter. Just trying to make a point that he can go through progressions. Is he the best? No. There is a reason he isn’t playing qb. We all saw that. But if you have a guy who has that experience in my opinion a defense has to respect it. He can be used as a weapon in many ways.

don’t need the highlights. I watched that game. And then I watched the UCLA game. And then I watched the first half of Oregon State. Where was that advanced progression reading ability after Baylor?

Beach I could care less about conference realignment hypotheses. I don’t deny BYU has had a better winning pct. I’m talking about talent. I’ve watched both teams play since the 60’s. You asked if I would trade BYU BB success for Utah? Depends on if you count all the sweet 16 appearances,BYU BB players in the NBA, tough schedule you had to endure(…[Read more]

I guess seeing the predict the score up for UCLA, means its time to think about the game a bit. Thanks Tony!
I’m sure others have more salient and better researched thoughts, but a quick review leads me to think that this game will come down to Iamaleava’s deep threat vs pressure from the Utah front 7. My reasoning:
1 – the UCLA D vs Utah O…[Read more]
