I was a BIG Wilson defender. However, if the rumors are true about locker room issues and parents having shouting matches with Whit…then gtfo. I just want a dynamic offense. I’d love for Dampier to transfer in with another QB. Wilson redshirts. Dampier at 1, Rose and or another transfer QB at 2 & 3. I’m also really intrigued with Ficklin.

  • I’m at a 3/5. If Scalley was HC it’d be a 4/5. I really like Beck’s offenses but I’m worried that Whit won’t let Beck be Beck.

I don’t know what people Beck has. With Bronco also leaving UNM, which of those guys will follow him. Here are the UNM offensive assistants. Are any better then the guys we have. Certainly less experience.

One of the youngest players on staff, Micah Simon comes to New Mexico after just one year as an on-field…[Read more]

I’m fine if he stays, but don’t think he should get special treatment. He has talent in certain areas and lack it in others. I think his athleticism is overrated. At times he throws a good deep pass but struggles with shorter routes. I wonder if he does the film study to lean how to deal with the blitz. A lot he made of his age, but it seems he…[Read more]

I’m really neutral on him staying or leaving. I think the some of the problems with the offense this season was the decision to make him QB2. I don’t think that was consistent with what much of the locker room believed. I don’t know if Rose has more ultimate upside than Wilson, but I believe he was more ready to be QB2 this season than Wilson.

From some of social media and sport boards confirms your post. Rumor has it Whitt had a few heated exchanges with Wilson’s parents, but didn’t say what it was about or elaborated. I also read somewhere he’s receiving NIL and believe part of the reason for his commitment to Utah (and not all because he’s 100% Ute in his heart) and why he’s #2 QB…[Read more]

I agree, Isaac was one of the top high school QBs in the country. I think he has talent but wasn’t ready to carry an offense with as many flaws as Utah’s offense. The biggest flaw of all was the uninspired play calling.
I hope he stays because I think he may become an excellent QB if he is given a chance to mature. I’d hate to see us miss out on…[Read more]

  • It will boil down to which position coach has the most talent and if they can get the players to stay. Our obvious weakness was QB and RB with WR not to far behind. Beck takes care of QBs. RB room a disaster so Ganther is on the hot seat. Keeping Williams is a big deal. If he goes WR coach should be gone too. Whittingham and Harding should stay.

  • He had some bad punts as well. He had a good average though. Special teams was just poorly coached this season. Finding a punter won’t be hard.

  • I think it is the best indicator that Beck is running the offense. But I could be totally wrong. I have never worked in the business but it makes sense for an OC to bring his own position coaches rather than trust the existing ones adopt your philosophy.
Which is why I continue to believe it is just another Whitt hire.

  • No. Path of Exile 2 is out and it is glorious.

Everything I hear is that he is a terrible teammate. I am 99% sure he is gone.

    I’m on the fence.

And over his 10 seasons as a OC/QB coach, Beck’s quarterbacks have averaged 3,300 passing yards and 509 rushing yards, for an average of 3,809 yards of total offense per season. I’d love to see Isaac in this style of offense.

  • Anyone care? Comments here. I won’t be able to watch it. I’ll be skiing. 🙂

I may be in the minority on this board. But, I don’t want to give up on Isaac yet. I know that the offense was terrible this season and Wilson did not look good.

BUT – I still think he has talent and after the experience he gained this season, I believe he will be a better QB. Most importantly, the blame for the terrible offense is not all on…[Read more]

I think this is a fair question. My answer today is that I don’t know. There are too many unknowns, i.e., who leaves the team for the portal, who we get from the portal, who gets healthy, who develops from the current team, etc.

I certainly hope we improve and improve a lot. But, the season just ended. Nothing has yet happened that has me…[Read more]

to your second #2: A lot of those bad bounces were self inflicted which doesn’t always revert to the mean. Just dropped interceptions alone cost the TCU and parochial school games. Even after the “hold heard round the world”, Calhoun dropped a pick 6 that would have iced the game. That’s execution not luck.

  • My guess is after this weekend is when we would start seeing movement among position coaches if it’s going to happen. Early signing is done but you still need position coaches recruiting the portal. If you’re going to make a change and your target is on a bowl team now is the time to go get them. If they are on a playoff team, you probably have…[Read more]
