Yep, you’ve been a fan that long and one bad season is enough to throw it all away? Give me a break.

UTE98 replied to the topic RB/running is the key to a Whitt team, so why so much NIL for QBs? in the forum Football 5 months, 2 weeks ago
@Utah, well put. You succinctly said exactly what a Whitt coached team is. Good, but never ever going to be great. If Utah wins 8-10 games a year and makes the playoffs every four or five years is that good enough? If so go out get some quality RBs, coach up your QB, but make sure the RB room is full every year to compliment the good SR QB we’ll…[Read more]

Whitt’s problem is he knows to win a national title, he needs a QB.
But once the QB has a bad game, he reverts back to his old school philosophy of shorten the game and try to win 3-0.
He won’t allow an offense to operate properly. He needs to admit to himself that he doesn’t really want to win a national title, he just wants to win 9+ games…[Read more]

If he was hired after the Penn St Rose Bowl, I’d want him fired.
He’s gotten worse the last two years.
His recruiting has gotten worse the last two years.
His QB has regressed both years. If he was a two year old Utah HC I’d want him gone asap so he didn’t completely undo the good Whitt had built before him.
These last two seasons are 100…[Read more]

I’m probably late to the party but a light bulb just went on for me. Since the players are now going to be getting money straight from the schools, whether they are called employees or not, there has to be a contract involved. Seems like a standard 3 year deal for incoming freshmen and remaining eligibility for transfers would be the smart way…[Read more]

Understandable. No one who deals with BYU fans regularly likes them. But it’s a good program.

BYU and Utah fans are complete assholes when they play each other, but in general, both BYU and Utah fans are really nice when playing other teams. ASU fans are just classless little bitches 100% of the time

Extended his contract? Lol. Best case any of his cheerleaders have for keeping him is 16 years in the rear view mirror.
You’d have to be an absolute knuckledragging dipshit to extend a coach that spent two years rotting your program from the inside out with such extreme commitment. He’d have been on notice in October of ’23. Let alone…[Read more]

Honestly, I’ve been feeling the same way, though for slightly different reasons. I love college football and sports in general, and I actually enjoy things like NIL and the transfer portal. I think they’re contributing to better parity in college football, which is exciting.
That said, I’ve realized this year that investing too much time and m…[Read more]

And the fact that if you’ve let it get to one game before his contract runs out to make a decision on extending, you’ve already decided to move on.
But to play the hypothetical, no. I would invoke the 3 years of program ambassador or whatever his new title will be and move forward. I would rather let him move on one year early instead of 3…[Read more]

Speaking of losing their grip.,,
The man (I guess I shouldn’t assume) said that he’s been to an average of 7.25 games per year for 54 years and you are calling him/her “fair weather” and a “snowflake”. You usually have decent ideas @AlohaUte, even if I don’t always agree with them, but you’re way over your skis today. Might be a good time to…[Read more]

That’s not the question. It’s about Whittingham as Utah’s coach going forward. Do you say, “thank’s Coach, but we’re moving on”..or “you’re our man for the next 3 years”.

Good stuff. It’s pretty hard to ignore 2019, 2021 & 2022 though which were the 3 best QB years of his tenure and also the 3 best running. So when Utah finally got complimentary football between run/pass and offense/defense, great things happened.
2008 was good but not outside the range of it’s surrounding years.
