I recall Greg Fluguar commenting about the potential down the road and his BYU clown audience gnashing their teeth about him even saying it. The current state of college athletics has me less interested by the day.

Keep your chin up buddy. Don’t feel guilty about not renewing, though I understand feeling a little sad about it. It’s been a rough couple of years as a Ute fan, but I think we’ll be more often competing for conference championships than not.

We desperately need D-line talent. We have no viable backup DT’s and Fano is our only good DE. Fitzgerald and Daley could improve, but it’s not a guarantee.

Said a few times, going from MWC to PAC was a massive upgrade. From PAC to Big12 was a drop off in football, but arguably a small upgrade in hoops.

Biggest issue I have is teams are so spread out and the championship venues are on longer a 6 hours drive down I-15 to Sin City. Of course potentially going to Big10 just puts us with many teams…[Read more]

Good points, I’ve thought about this a lot too. The reality is Washington and UCLA are pretty much destined to be what Michigan State and Iowa are at best in the Big-10. Come on guys…we had a guy, Dorian Singer, who was a year removed from being an All PAC 12 First Team WR and we couldn’t exploit his outstanding capabilities. Based on that, I’m not going to lose any sleep whether we are able to recruit some HS 5 Star kid.

Going to the Big 10, as currently constituted, would be a good thing, generally speaking, for the U. However, would it specifically be good for Utah athletics? I’m not so sure. I want to think so, but then I see who’s in the Big 10 and the number of quality institutions who’ve been eternal also-rans in that conference.

I will admit, that while I’m not thrilled about the Big-12, particularly being in a conference with schools in the Central and Eastern time zone (though I love having TCU back), I’m glad we are still in conference with Colorado, ASU, UA, and even BYU.
