Yeah he’s got obvious talent but he’s clearly a project that Utah doesn’t need to be spending $500k on to ride the bench.

interested to know if the school and/or boosters/donors have the $$$ or unlimited NIL to bring in top notch staff and talented players and won’t go into debt or bankruptcy because of it.
i’m curious to know since it seems or appears the football program didn’t compete or match NIL offers for players that left, and was it because they didn’t think…[Read more]

First saw the headline expecting it to be about poor on field performance.
Didn’t know this about his personality.

IMO, Boguts may be the most deserving player to have his number retired. He was the consensus national player of the year, he was first team AA, he was first picked in the NBA draft, etc. By the standards set up by the university, (he only played two years) he would not have qualified for the honor. However, no other player received the…[Read more]

G-league season ends March 29th. If anything is going to happen I’d expect it to be announced next week.

It blows my mind people still have a hard time treating people with respect. Especially today where everything is recorded or saved in the cloud.

Taylor let go for misconduct. Two different investigations that he appeared to survive. Committed to do better last week following the most recent investigation then Andrew Luck, Stanford Football GM, dropped the axe today.

Alex mentioned that he would go in this direction in his introductory press conference.

Might be Andre and team are still in dicussion. May also be Andre wants to complete his season before announcing anything so as not to distract his team.

It sure seems Utah is going all-in on getting folks with NBA credentials.
It sounds like that is the correct way to go, given the current climate of collegiate athletics.
Which makes it even more surprising they haven’t announced Andre Miller yet.

Perhaps you can enlighten me why this is so.
I’ll admit that I’m not terribly familiar with Vranes, but a cursory review of his stats makes me wonder why he received the honor when others with similar accolades have not.
To me, it’s obvious why McGill, Gardner, Ferrin, Miller and Van Horn are up there. Clearly they had to change criteria to get…[Read more]

Yeah, I mean it’s not inexplicable why Bogut had his number retired, it just seems to me that he didn’t stick around long enough to really have the impact you’d expect from someone who has their number in the rafters.
There’s surely an argument for having Bogut’s number up there, but I just don’t think he deserves to be up there as much as some others.

Like was mentioned above, they altered some rules to allow Bogut to qualify. I don’t know which ones or in what way. I will say, I think it’s arguable that Bogut is the best player that’s ever passed through our program.
He was an unstoppable force AS A SOPHOMORE! Had he stayed four years like Van Horn, he would have smashed every record we…[Read more]

I guess it depends what you use as criteria. Here are some of Bogut’s accomplishments in the 2004 – 2005 season. Pretty impressive in my opinion.
