And they have ended every practice with a “Beat Utah” cheer. This game has officially become their Super Bowl.
I think this game could be a make or break game for them.
If they upset the Utes, it will give them great confidence and they could have a very good season.
If the Utes crush them by 21 or more, they will likely be demoralized. They are putting everything into this game. A crushing defeat could leave them shaking their heads and lead to a poor season.
If they lose a close game (which always seems to be the case), I suspect this game will have little effect on their overall season.
On paper, we should crush them, but that has been true for the last three seasons and it hasn’t happened. I hope we come out strong and do not let up. I would love to see a score of something like 42-17.
Go Utes!!!
54-10
I mean look at their first 4 games… is there a win there? Probably not, especially if they get crushed right out of the gates at home. They start 0-4, rebound to pick off Toledo, either 1-2 or 2-1 against USF/BSU/USU and look good against the last 4 (Liberty? really?) and complain that if they could play the first 4 again it would be different. Probably another 6 win season with a crappy bowl. Snooze. Why do we keep playing this FCS team again?
There is most definitely a win in their first 4 games. Every year there are Ute fans who predict they will start the year 0-4 or whatever and every year they pick up at least one win, usually two, in their first few games.
True, they do often get a flukey win. This year’s two flukey wins are likely to be USC and Tennessee. After all the gifts they’ve had in recent years (multiple turnovers, downed starters, etc.) I don’t see then beating us. And with all camp focused on these guys, not even an FCS team to worry about first…good luck to em there.
But to counter their flukey win they also have a recent history of inexplicable losses (lookin’ at you UMass). I think they may very well end up losing to Liberty, which would be terribly funny.
Having us, UW, and USC all at home will be a big benefit for them and Tennessee hasn’t exactly been a world beater lately. I have no doubt they will start the year at least 1-3 with a decent shot at 2-2.
Disagree, TDS does not match up well versus teams with high speed skill players like SC. Big slow and strong is another discussion – see Wiscy.
I think the SC WRs will destroy TDS secondary on wild card is SC O line versus TDS D lime. If SC gives Daniels enough time to throw the TDS game will get out of hand quickly.
If they happen to lose big they will be crushed for a day, but then they, with the help of their gullible fans, will begin to come up with all kinds of reasons why the “better team” lost, the score was a fluke, the officials were biased against them, etc.
Desperate times call for desperate measures. #9IsComing
It was said in the past (not last year) that they were “too amped up” for the Utah game to be effective in the 1st Q. So just amp it up a bit more, there, zoobs.
You mean like, this excited?
this video is useless without Greg Wrubell.
Rinse and repeat 3-4 times in the Vegas Bowl.
I remember driving home from work listening to the kick-off on the radio. I stopped to grab a drink, an when I got back in my car we were kicking off again. I laughed the rest of the way home.
