ParticipantLooking ahead to the games in Week 12, I would think our matchup with Oregon is at the top of the list for ESPN Gameday. Assuming both teams don’t lose until we face each other, I would think it would be between our game and Ohio St vs Michigan St. However, with Michigan St losing today, I would think ESPN would prefer to wait a week to highlight a Top 5 matchup potentially between Ohio St & Michigan.

ParticipantOver Michigan State / Ohio State?
Seems like gameday would do Alabama/Auburn which could be 10-1 v 9-2 for Thanksgiving week and do the Big 10 the week earlier. Especially since Oregon has already been the road team for at least one gameday this year (UCLA). Was their game against Ohio State also a gameday?
edit: Auburn lost today so the best they could be is 8-3. The Iron Bowl would still be for the division and the narrative would be Alabama getting in as the 2nd SEC team again.

ParticipantRight, Auburn lost today so the Iron Bowl in Week 13 wouldn’t be nearly as big as Ohio St Michigan if both teams win out until they face each other. Both teams would be ranked in the Top 5 at that point and the winner of that game would determine who plays in the B1G CCG and likely who goes on to play in the CFP (I don’t see any team from the B1G West beating the champ from the B1G East).
I think if that scenario is still looking possible/likely heading into Week 12, ESPN would choose Utah/Oregon over Ohio St/MSU. Utah would be one of the hottest teams in the country at that time with the best shot of knocking #4 Oregon out of playoff contention.

ParticipantThere is nothing wrong with your reasoning, I’m just looking at it from the implications of each game. Utah/Oregon at this point determines nothing as both teams are expected to play again 2 weeks later in the CCG.
Right now if Michigan State beats Ohio State, they get into the CCG. Ohio State has to win that game for Ohio State / Michigan to matter. So in my mind, the MSU/OSU is a more important game nationally.

ParticipantYea you might be right. I’m definitely not saying if Oregon and Utah win out until they play each other on 11/20 that ESPN Gameday is coming to RES. I’m just saying I could see it being one of the games that week that ESPN could choose.
And if it ended up being between Oregon/Utah or OSU/MSU, I could see a scenario where ESPN would choose Utah/Oregon.
