Coming down to the 2/6 wire with a number of players that could reveal a potential step up in higher level recruiting for Utah football. The transfer rules have worked in Utah’s favor proving to some of these athletes the UofU is a damn good place to go to school and play football. What is missing in recruiting that Utah is a place of destination for higher leverl players other then players flying under the radar or 3 star players recruited by SMU and North Texas State?

How does Utah get over the hump landing better players like Puka Nacua and the other in-state kids that go else where? Would love to see PN join the Utah football family. Too many high level recruits leave the state of Utah to play football. I get it, some kids want to try someting new. There’s just too many that don’t consider Utah as a first option then some come back.

KW has done a lot of great things for Ute football. KWs weaknesses continues to be offensive coaches and IMO recruting higher level athletes on offense. 2/6 will be tell us a lot if anything has changed. Don’t give me the, this is a small recruiting class BS, etc. Utah has 5-6 scholarships they need to fill with high level offensive player recruits.

      Go Utes!

Darren Jones is a 4* 6’8” WR with offers all over the nation.  If we land Wilmore to go along with Bernard and Banton that’s some good offensive talent.  Yes, Nacua would add an amazing playmaker to the others mentioned, but there is some good talent so far in this class.  Plus we already have commitments from several high quality OLinemen.

Really hope we get Darren Jones. We need some size and a corner TD threat.

His August commitment has made it this far, right? But is he a project, or immediate impact guy?

He should be able to contribute immediately. His main issue right now is qualifying.

Getting Darren Jones’ signature might be the most important signing of the 2nd signing period, but I don’t believe that he’ll be able to contribute immediately. Because while at 6-9, he has great “length”, his 185-lbs reflects poor “size” for “Pac-12” play. He’ll get lit up by every LB and FS/SS in the league. He’ll need to get into the gym. Remember Tim Patrick? Same thing. He had to battle a lot of injuries early on in his career due to his [lack of] proper playing weight, and at 6-4/195-lbs, he was even sturdier than Jones.
