Not trying to cause a controversy or stir the pot. Why can we not call the Women’s Basketball team The Lady Utes anymore?
By the way, they’re hanging tough on the road at Texas down 19-17 at the end of the first quarter. Go Utes!!! Beat the Longhorns!!!

My guess is the reasoning is along the lines of “Gender is a social construct!” and it is somehow “demeaning” to refer to the women’s team as Ladies.

I don’t understand the world we live in anymore.

People can change it to whatever they want, but I’M going to continue to refer to them as The Lady Utes. Great team. Great season!

I always thought Ute was gender-neutral, not like Cowboys or Minutemen or whatever, so doesn’t seem like there is anything wrong with just referring to them as Utes like every other sports team at the University (other than the “Red Rocks” I guess)? My guess is that the university won’t change it in any sort of official manner, but I doubt you’re offending anyone if you prefer to call them the lady Utes.
