NIU committed to stopping the run on every play before the ball was snapped. The RPO is useless in this scenario. All that was accomplished by running RPO with Huntley’s prolonged mesh was to turn run blitzes into very effective pass blitzes.
The counter was to GET MOSS OUT OF THE BACKFIELD AND AWAY FROM HUNTLEY
First series of the second half Huntley kept for a nice gain on a speed option where NIU’s entire defense followed Moss out on a pitch. We never ran it again.
