If rumors are true and Glover has left the team, then Q needs to be shown the door immediately.

That position group has been an absolute dumpster fire under his watch.

Man, Glover. Just never lived up to the potential. And I think you are right about Q. I like the man, a great Ute. But the RB position is struggling. Bernard is awesome, but that’s it. Mitchell can’t hit the hole and I have no idea about why the others struggling.

I suspect the whole offensive coaching staff will look different season, even if Kyle doesn’t retire.

I believe you’re right. I think that Whitt is starting to understand that, no matter how much he likes certain coaches, he’s starting to get to the point where it’s a case of “it’s you and me until it’s you or me.”

You’re not wrong. Hasn’t done anything noticeable to improve the last guy’s recruits – I’m crediting the 2022 class to McDonald – and I don’t see anyone in the 2024 or 2025 classes that was/is specifically recruited as an RB. For a guy who can recruit off Utah putting backs in the league as well as himself going to the league based on his time at Utah.,, you just can’t bat zero.

I know Utah took Anthony Woods as a transfer but he had a known injury coming in. We’ll never get an answer on whether him missing this year was a new injury or aggravation of the old one. So even if he turns out to be a stud next year, 2024 is still a wasted year for the position.

Ah now big loss. He never got it going here. Add it to the list of recent RB recruit misses.

While we’re at it, someone needs to take a hard look at Whitted. I assume Freddie has a job as long as Whitt is head coach, and I think Harding is recruiting well enough even though the offense doesn’t seem to be such that it matches the OBlocks strengths.

What are we seeing out of the receivers that makes us think Whitted has been an improvement over Bumphis or Holliday? Singer was a known quantity and a good get. Mikey Mitchell Matthews was better than many give him credit for but has moved on. None of the name pickups have done anything and some can’t even get on the field. And it’s not like the receivers are constantly finding open space and the QB just can’t get them the ball.

What is most damning about WR coaching/offense is that we are putting WRs in the NFL, and they are usually better in the NFL (against better competition) than they were here. For example, Devaughn is a starting WR for the Broncos, beating out Troy Franklin. Yet, we couldn’t get him the ball at a level corresponding to his talent.

Vele got the most targets of the receivers so at least they tried. It’s the distribution that’s the real issue for me. Whenever I see an article that says something like “Rising completed 17 of 27 passes with 9 different receivers catching the ball”, I don’t view that as a team strength.

If you’re going to have 3,000 passing yards in a season I’d like to the top guy be around 1,000 then next around 600 and the third in the 500 range. That leaves 900 yards to split between the backs and the backups. And it doesn’t bother me the TE/WR split among the top 3. But I want 3 guys on the field who are known threats whenever the QB drops back.

Instead, the distribution has been a bunch of people between 150 and 400 yards with a TE at 6. Which tells me your TE is your go to and if I bracket him and single cover the rest for 2 seconds, you don’t have a plan to beat me through the air.

After last season, the consensus on this page was the Devaughn absolutely was not an NFL receiver. If it was just a distribution issue, I don’t believe that that would have been the case.

While distribution is certainly an issue, it is very rare to see a Utah receiver open in broken coverage or creating quick separation. This makes me thing that either our offense is completely vanilla, or that our receiver coaching is failing.

I think it’s a combination of both and the weighting comes down to preference. We have heard reports from coaches that have never coached against Utah how easy it is to discern what the play is going to be. We’ve also seen the same offense succeed at a very high level. So my take is that vanilla offense, when executed well, can be highly effective. And when it’s not executed well, that’s on coaching.

I love Shah and he should be a coach at Utah for as long as he wants, however he should not be over special teams. They have been straight dog water since he took over.

“It’s Ganther’s fault!” “Nah, Harding’s the one who’s not cuttin’ it!” “You’re both wrong. “Freddie’s the real problem here! “Come on, you dopes. You’re blind if you can’t see Alvis Whitted has done absolutely jack-squat with the receiver room!’ “What’s wrong with all you guys..you all need glasses. Don’t forget, it was Ludwig who was steering the ship. I say, good riddance to bad trash!”

Yep, that about sums it up, right? Who else could possibly be responsible for this dumpster fire of a football program?????

he’s already been demoted from riding Whitt’s Harley onto the field. And now you want to clip his wings?
