I thought the line would be around 10.

I was surprised to see ASU -8 against USC.  But, with USC’s big weapon (London) out for the season, I guess I shouldn’t be surprised.

No way BYU loses to a USC team without London.  On top of that, most, if not all of the USC coaching staff will be looking for new jobs 5 minutes after that game.  They should end the season 10-2.

Stanford is scary man. They clocked Oregon.

Stanford is a disciplined, well-coached team.  However, I looked and their boxscores and on paper, they don’t appear to be a very good team.  They do not have a good running D, which may play into our hands.  They also do not appear to be running the ball as much as they have in previous seasons.  Like us, they are a tight-end-centric passing attack.

We cannot take them lightly.  They will not hand us anything and they will fight hard until the clock reaches zero.  That being said, IF our offense continues to deliver – we will win IMO.

They certainly didn’t “clock Oregon.” Stanford benefitted from some calls at the end and won in OT. Also, Oregon is very beatable this year, especially without Verdell.
I fully expect Utah to beat Stanford, Arizona and Colorado. I think Oregon is a tossup.

I like your optimism. I feel like this is some kind of letdown trap game on the road, after giving yourself a “92% chance” to win the south according to the infographic on ESPN by beating UCLA… I’ve seen this before. It’s also November. I’m just still a nervous nellie I guess.

I get that way too. Fortunately, I feel like the South really is crappy this year.

            “It’s also November”

In the two previous non-pandemic years, we went 3-1 [pre-CCG] & 4-0 in November.

I feel like they’ve had their trap game in Oregon State. I think Stanford will have their full attention. I’m also expecting wins vs Stanford, Arizona and Colorado with Oregon game being a toss up. Although I can see an emotional effort vs the Ducks.

      -6.5? Pffft.

OSU in Corvallis was the “trap game,” (if you could even call it that – Utes whiffed on putting up 50+ there).

Utah is going to RUN roughshod in Palo Alto.

The line is only about what the people in Vegas think will get people to bet money for both sides. That way they can make money no matter who covers the spread. Had they opened at 10, less people would place bets.

Indeed the line doesn’t mean the sportsbooks think Utah will win by a TD.  It means that they feel as many bettors will bet on Utah to win by 7 or more as the number of bettors who will bet on Stanford to lose by 6 or less or win.
