We need to keep winning the South and have a yearly improvement in our recruit ratings. Our average rating in this class is 87 and Oklahoma’s is 90 / OSU is 91. BYU’s average player rating is 82. When we first joined the PAC 12 or average player rating was closer to 82. So the recruiting talent differential for us now is closer to Oklahoma and Ohio State than it is to BYU.

One of the issues is that we only have 20 scholarships allotments in this class because we have five return missionaries that won’t count. I think 247 needs to rcallibrate how they do class rankings and account for the missionaries in the year they return and sign to play versus the year they leave. Outside of that, it’s a numbers game. Using the 247 class calculator, if we were to sign the final three recruits we are going after we could likely end in the top 25. Or average star rank continues to get higher each year. Right now we are in the top 25 from average star ranking. Usually they say that on field success translates into recruiting success the following season. My understanding is we are already starting to line up some good prospects for 2021.

Historically, the majority of the teams we have played in bowl games have been significantly lesser opponents. Alabama is the exception. We were exposed by Northwestern last year. If the team that played Oregon shows up we will be slaughtered. Your analysis is correct and they have been saying the same thing on ESPN 700.

I agree with your post – Oregon has better athletes and we need them to from our end to compete. We have yet to perform on the big stage when we are favored. I told my wife all week that there was a very good chance we could lay a goose egg given prior performance.

We are making progress. 5 years ago, did you think we would be talking about a 11-2 season as a failure?
We should have the highest rated recruiting class from an avg player rating perspective ever when you factor in transfers. Small class size will hurt us in overall rankings, but we only have 17-18 spots.

Here is the good news. We have two 4 star QB’s that will be vying for the starting spot next year. Not a bad problem to have. Very likely we land three 4 star in state recruits from Utah.

Surprisingly, I think our offense may be our strong point next year.
Season 2 of Ludwig steering the ship and we have the following

QB – Rising and Bentley, Shelley if he stays
RB – DHC, Wilmore, Brumfield, Green, Bernard and two freshman
TE – Fotheringham, Kiethe and Yasmin
WR – Covey, Dixon, Enis, Nacua, Vele, Thompson
OL – 4 returning starters plus Maea, Bills and Bam who all had reps this year

QB controversy brewing. Wouldn’t surprise me if JT Daniels transfers.

I think it shows he has 20 tackles for the year, the way the defense is designed are the two interior lineman eat up the blocks of the offense line so the two linebackers can make tackles.

I think that LSU has a low player graduation rate doesn’t help
