One of the rules is that there are now a maximum number of players on a team. That’s a good thing.

Also, teams don’t have to give out all 105 (or whatever the number is) of scholarships and I do believe you can do partial scholarships now.

I think this is why you won’t see changes until 2030. There is no need for ESPN/FOX to rush anything. Why get stuck with more Vanderbilt’s and BYU’s and Cincinnati’s when you don’t have to?

FSU and Clemson can just stay in the ACC and come 2028/2029 the tv people can figure out who they really want in their conferences.

  • Utah replied to the topic Realignment Predictions in the forum Football 3 days, 11 hours ago

There is a close to zero chance FSU and Clemson are leaving their conference to go to a conference with BYU, Houston, Cincinnati, Baylor, etc.

Would we go back to the MWC? Nope. And FSU and Clemson aren’t going to the Big 12.

  • Utah replied to the topic It's all about Cam Rising in the forum Football 3 days, 15 hours ago

Go look at Cam’s running. Everyone acts like he runs like Cam Newton or Tim Tebow.

Cam isn’t a running QB. He is a QB that can run. Outside 3-4 games, him running isn’t a part of the game plans. He runs because he can, not because we need him to. What I’m trying to say is, Ludwig doesn’t go into games thinking, “I need Cam to run the ball 10…[Read more]

I don’t know what BYU fan down voted me, but believe me…if we have to switch to Huard…it won’t be a repeat of last year. Huard can do things Barnes and Johnson don’t even dream about doing.

It will just come down to whether or not he knows the plays and if he doesn’t turn the ball over. If he can learn how to go through reads…we win the…[Read more]

I don’t know if I agree with this. We have Cam as our starting QB and he’s another level up. But backing him up we have Wilson and Huard. And it sounds like Huard is taking the #2 spot.

Huard has potential out his ears. He was a 5 star kid.

Now, going into the Big 12…look, it ain’t as hard as the PAC-12. Do we need a 5 star/Rising level QB…[Read more]

  • Utah replied to the topic I am a football fan first in the forum Football 3 days, 17 hours ago

I watch all Utah football games.
I have watched every Phillies and Eagles games for as long as I remember. But, I do have two tv’s in my living room, so some days the Phillies game is on above the fireplace and muted while we watch something on the “real” tv or read a book. Or, if I can’t watch a Phillies game, I’ll have it on the radio.
    And I…[Read more]

  • Utah replied to the topic Nasty (Rival) fanbases in the forum Football 1 week, 3 days ago

From what I’ve seen, Kansas and Kansas St are the most whiney about us joining the Big 12. My god, they whine about Utah every chance they get.

  • Yormark is a hack. He’s just been lucky so far. Inviting BYU, Cin, Hou, and UCF was completely stupid of him to do so. They drag the conference down and have all but guaranteed the conference won’t exist in 2030.

The Big 12 was always playing from behind…because their brands suck. So Yormark jumped the gun and tried to keep the conference…[Read more]

  • Three months ago I’d 100% say this would be perfect for Scalley. But now that the job is open, I’m so glad he’s already the HC in waiting. It appears my talk was just talk. I want Scalley at Utah.

But if I was Jay Hill, I’d be on the phone throwing my hat in the ring. What a great job for someone wanting a stable, long term gig you can win at…[Read more]

  • Eh. He’s in Oklahoma. They are too worried about conspiracy theories and women taking over and secret child abduction rings and Hillary doing weird shit and Joe Biden’s laptop to pay attention to reality. As long as OSU wins, they don’t give a shit.

  • Look. It would be so stupid for FSU and Clemson to leave and then join the Big 12. There isn’t one good reason to do so.

One of two things is happening:

1- FSU and Clemson leave to join the Big 10 or SEC.

2- The ACC falls apart and then quickly thereafter the Big 12 falls apart and a new conference is formed with the good teams from the A…[Read more]

  • Utah replied to the topic QB depth after Rising in the forum Football 2 weeks, 1 day ago

If you think Wilson is the future, he’s the backup.

I know the transfers might have changed things, but most round 1/2 QB’s start at some point in their freshmen years.

So, you let Huard and Wilson battle for #2 and the winner is the backup.

  • Does anyone not remember the WAC-16?

The Big 12 won’t last. First, if ESPN is helping FSU leave the ACC, it’s not to put them into the Big 12 with Houston and UCF and Cincinnati and BYU.

Second, if the tv people want to control everything, the next logical step would be to disband the ACC, disband the Big 12 and the consolidate from there. Eit…[Read more]

  • Yes, BYU won it all in 1984.

Yes, Utah’s 2004 and 2008 seasons were waaaaayyyyy more impressive.

  • Anyone associated with Utah could go to a BYU fan and say “my favorite BYU uniform was *insert shade of blue*. Those were clean.”

And BYU fan would take offense. They are the softest group of people I’ve ever seen.

  • Cam Rising is 19-1 vs teams that are as equally talented or less talented than Utah.

There is not a single team we play this year with more talent than Utah.

  • Huh? OSU lost to South Alabama last year.

Go look at the average score of Utah with Risng as QB. Then look at “better on paper” comment.

    Utah is better in paper.

  • I don’t know if this is a Utah/BYU thing or a young person thing or a “content creator” thing or what.

But I don’t understand this need to pander to everyone.

There is a reason we are picked first and our OL is ranked fourth best. We are good. And our inexperienced OL? We return 4 starters who had a better rushing attack than OSU last year an…[Read more]

  • lol. Alright OSU fan. So, OSU’s line is marginally better than ours. Doesn’t change anything I said. We are the better team with the easier schedule.
