• When the spring game was played against the alumni?
It would be fun to have Eric Weddle playing safety against our starters.
Back in those days, Utah did not have many players in the NFL.  So most of the alumni were available to play in the game.
Also back in those days, the first NFL preseason game was the previous year’s NFL champion against…[Read more]

I jumped in my car to run some errands.  The presser was already going on, so I didn’t hear everything.  A couple of things I picked up:
    – He said they have or will have 10 scholarship corners in fall camp.
    – We have three running backs fighting for playing time.  He is not sure if they will have a single guy getting most of the playing time or…[Read more]

  • They have the lead and the best schedule going forward.
The bad news is that the Lakers will likely get the 4 or 5 seed.  They will have two well-rested superstars and difficult to stop in the playoffs.  I was hoping they would end up in the 3rd or 5th seed.  I don’t think they will be able to catch the Clippers for the 3rd seed and I don’t see…[Read more]

I love Utah football and am looking forward to a complete season in 2021.  It’s tough to know what we will be IMO.  Just a few thoughts.
We know we have some very good receivers like Covey, Enis, and our tight ends.  But I suspect we will have some depth issues, especially if someone gets hurt.
I trust Only.  If he says Brewer is a stud – I…[Read more]

  • I do not want this to be a political post.  I am neither a Democrat nor a Republican.  I just don’t like politics in sports.
I grew up in the 1960s.  It was a time of great turmoil in our country.  There were at least 4 major assassinations, we were involved in a war that few people liked, and there were riots in the streets.  I enjoyed getting…[Read more]

  • For me:
    – More consistent play
    – Do not lose big leads
    – Better play down the stretch
    – Assuming we play an 18 game conference schedule – a record of 10-8 would be a nice start for our new coach
By season two I would like to get back to the big dance and by season three or four get to the sweet 16.

  • Two PAC12 teams playing for the national championship.  Doesn’t get any better than that!
Now if the PAC12 can return to its glory days in football …
    Go Utes!!!

  • I do not like the portal as it now stands.  It is out of control.
For football – I would give the players 4 months (January – April) to enter the portal.  No portal from May 1 through the end of the year.  A player could choose to go into the portal after a season ends through the end of spring practice.  No portal changes in fall camp.  This…[Read more]

I only wrote “her” because that is what the news reported. They said it was her Lehi home. They may have more than one home, I don’t honestly know.

  • ProudUte started the topic Coach Shah in the forum Football 2 months, 1 week ago

How much does this disaster that coach Shaw’s wife is involved in, affect him?  It sounds like they are repossessing her home and that if convicted, she may be doing some major jail time.
I have to think that this is a very difficult time for him.  It would be hard for me to focus on my coaching responsibilities.  I wonder if he is even involved…[Read more]

A play-in team (UCLA) makes it to the final four.  One of the last few teams to get an invite makes it to the final four.
Not one team east of the Mississippi is playing in the final four.  This probably happened sometime, but when?
The whole tourney started out odd when Duke, Kentucky, and NC didn’t get invited.  Not sure when that last…[Read more]

  • We will lose a few, but I’m sure our new coach is looking at what’s available out there.
I dislike the portal.  However, it is now the rule and we should work it the best we can.

  • I’m too lazy to check, but I bet that hasn’t happened before.  Also, no east coast teams in the elite 8.
Way to show PAC12 teams.  This is great for the conference in many ways.

  • You know how rumors are.  One person starts something, goes to the next guy, and on and on until it sounds true.  I see many posting things like I know a guy who knows the family, etc.
I agree with the channel 2 guys from last night.  If he truly has an offer it is likely something like 15 million over 5 years and they think he should take it…[Read more]

  • For the purpose of this post – I will refer to the Big-East as a “Power Conference”.
Teams making the sweet 16 by conference:
    Big10 – 1
    ACC – 2
    SEC – 2
    B12 – 1
    Big East – 1
    PAC12 – 4
    Non-power-conferences – 5 (This represents like 30 conferences)
The PAC12 getting 1/4 of the 16 teams in is an amazing result.  This is a very good thing for…[Read more]

  • Probably not, but it is fun to see how well they are doing so far.  8-0 is very impressive.  I would like to get two more wins tonight.

  • I have no clue.  However, he is being recruited.  Is he the number one choice?  I don’t know that either, but IMO he should be.
If he does come, I believe it is critical that he finds assistants who have strong recruiting experience.  Alex doesn’t have that.
If I am Harlan, I would be doing everything possible to get Alex on board.  He is a…[Read more]

  • Some on here have posted that Alex wants to be an NBA coach and will not consider Utah.  I do not know if this is true or not.  There are pros and cons to being a coach in the NBA or college.
    – A college coach has to grovel to recruit kids.  You have to be a salesman and after they get here you have to be a second father, tutor, and…[Read more]

  • We may not be able to get him because he may want to be an NBA guy.  But here are my reasons for wanting him.
    – He was coached by one of the best basketball minds ever and he was an assistant to RM too.
    – He is a baller.  He put everything he had into the game.
    – He knows the local culture and this may help him with local recruiting.
    – He…[Read more]

  • There appears to be a number of Coach K supporters on here.  That is just fine.  I would never say you are wrong for having that opinion.
I understand that many on here don’t think he will be let go because of the buyout.  I believe that to be true too.  My question is for those who think he should stay regardless of the buyout issues – why…[Read more]
