  • Rising, more than any former Utah player, generates the full range of emotions among die-hard Utah fans. He led us to two PAC12 championships and two Rose Bowls. Who will ever forget his gutsy performance against USC in 2022. He was then the true leader of this team.

On the other side of the coin, Rising and his injuries caused angst and…[Read more]

  • We are moving to an up-tempo, no-huddle offense. This is something that Whitt does not typically like to do. He is all about winning the possession time battle and keeping his defense off the field.

I like the idea of playing up-tempo. But, it could lead to our D being on the field more than in past years.

  • I completely agree. I don’t think hiding injuries has helped us.

  • “It’s a game-time decision.”

This has not turned out well the last two seasons. If it is truly a game-time decision, the player is likely not ready to play at a high level.

  • Well said, TruckStop.

NIL is here, but there needs to be rules, and here are none. It has gotten out of hand, and I hate it. I will remain a Utah football fan, but I am scaling it back.

I will not contribute a dime to kids who will be making more in a year than I ever did before I retired. I will contribute my hard-earned money to causes that…[Read more]

Anyone who thinks they are superior because of their religious or political beliefs has issues.

I have my religious beliefs and political feelings. But, I have learned that my beliefs do not make me a better person. I hate the polarization that exists today in our country because we put our own beliefs ahead of being a decent person.

I would say that we should all be respectful of others’ beliefs; I don’t care what religion or political party. This is a sports board. I have loved and lived Utah sports for over six decades. I do not come here to get a lecture about religion or politics. There are plenty of boards for that.

This board has been typically very good.…[Read more]

  • I think that this is a concern. We lack depth at RB and WR on offense. But, I am most concerned by our Dline.

  • I know BYU has invested more NIL money into their basketball program than possibly any college in the country. But, do they have the same kind of NIL money in football? I honestly have no clue. Many have posted in other threads that they have as much as four times the money that Utah has when it comes to football.

What is the truth? Do we…[Read more]

  • I really like Jay Hill. But, I do not see him coming to Utah at this point. I do think he will leave BYU at some point for a HC position.

As for our new DC – We have some good candidates in-house that Scalley knows well. I think he stays in-house when he picks his DC.

I have no idea how many wins we will get. After the first three games, I may feel like I have an idea how this team will perform.

As of today – 7.5 seems fair. I hope we are over, but …

  • Well, not exactly. But, Whitt does say that he thinks Snowden will see some time on offense

    KSL Article on Snowden

    I like it.

  • An ESPN article said that Fano could be the top pick in the NFL draft. He only gave him a 1% chance, but he is very positive about him.

Why he could be the top pick: Fano was the most consistent blocker on tape in 2024, which is why he’s my top-rated offensive tackle. The 6-3 302-pounder needs to add weight, but he has the quickness and fluidity…[Read more]

  • Had Rising and Kuithe decided to go into the NFL draft after the Ohio State Rose Bowl loss would they be playing in the NFL today?

Both of them decided to come back, and each experienced two serious injuries that for all intents and purposes, ended their careers. I love what these two brought to the field as Utes. Unfortunately, they were both…[Read more]

  • He could endu p being a very good college QB (I hope so). But,I don’t think he is NFL material. But, what do I know? I am lookin forward to seeing what he can do this season.

I admire your enthusiasm, I really do. But, I don’t completely agree. A couple of counterpoints.

    1. We had a great Oline last season, yet … I understand our QB play was terrible. I blame the coaching staff for that.

    2. Our defense lost a lot of key players. Our LB starters are good and very experienced. Our safeties should be okay.…[Read more]

I guess when you still have open spots this late, you take what is available. This guy didn’t average over 10 points a game at the JC level. I doubt he will see a lot of playing time.

I don’t think the folks at South Temple turned a blind eye to JMac. I think Lavel and staff did everything they could to hide what he was doing until he played his final game for BYU. I believe that the leaders in SLC were told that everything is fine. They want to open their flagship university to non-members because they can be a positive…[Read more]

I think you are right about the donors paying big money if they continue to win. However, what I was referring to are the folks in Salt Lake putting a stop to “pay for play” if they see the values of their flagship school changing. They will not tolerate BYU becoming a party school. Just my opinion.

  • ProudUte replied to the topic BYU NIL in the forum Football 1 month, 3 weeks ago

It appears to me that BYU donors are focusing mostly on basketball. This makes sense because you don’t have to get as many star players. The one donor said, “We will not be outbid.” Utah is going to have a difficult time competing with this.

What will stop this BYU NIL money? More issues like Retlaff. The powers that control BYU will not like…[Read more]
