ProudUte started the topic D Tackle Dilan Battle commits to Utah in the forum Football 1 month, 3 weeks ago
He originally signed with LSU. He is part of the 2025 class. He was recruited by the big boys like LSU, Bama, Oregon, etc.
This is a nice pickup at a position we need.

I don’t always agree with chinngiskhaan. But, let’s be real about this reruit. He has done nothing in three years of college that would make one believe he will be a key player on our 2025 team. That being said, Whitt, et al may see something that a novice like me does not see.
I wish him well at Utah. But, based on what we have in the RB…[Read more]

I saw that. Good for Covey. He is one of my all-time favorite players. I hope he get a chance to play receiver.

ProudUte replied to the topic Is NIL and the portal sustainable? in the forum Football 2 months ago
Miami, I agree with you. I do not like the direction of college football. It is fun to see teams like Utah State, Northern Illinois, Wyoming, etc. have great seasons. These teams will serve as a farm club for the elite. They will be the 2A teams. The FCS teams will be 1A. Utah and BYU will likely be 3A teams. The major league teams will be…[Read more]

ProudUte started the topic Is NIL and the portal sustainable? in the forum Football 2 months ago
I just read an article from Wilner where he discussed the issues college football has. Staff size has increased, we are paying players, coaches make 10 million, etc. Can a college sustain this? His answer was no. Below is a small part of his article:
It’s more a house of subsidies than a house of cards. The top 12-15 football brands subsidize…[Read more]

Looks like a good recruit. We need D tackles. He already has the size. Now we need to get him in the weight room.
He was recruited by many top football programs. This may be a good get.

ProudUte replied to the topic Snowden stays loyal in the forum Football 2 months, 1 week ago
I have stayed away from CB for a long time. But, I wanted to see what they had to say about Snowden. There are at least a dozen threads over there discussing Snowden.
If the Cougar Board didn’t bother you before, I am sure it will if you read this. They hate people just because they are Ute fans. Their derangement equals…[Read more]

I am sad to see him go, but could this be a mutual decision that would help him get more playing time and free up a spot for the team. I don’t know anything, but this would not surprise me.

BYU matched the highest offer, and since he was already living down the road in Mt. Pleasant, he chose BYU.

Wishing back things on another is always wrong IMO. I give you credit for having the guts to post here. But, you are dead wrong on so many things you posted.

Screw it. I am close to just giving up on college sports. It is so messed up. I hate what has happened with the NIL and portal. I need to separate myself from this mess. I was a Ute fan during the 1-10 seasons of the 1970s and enjoyed it. But, this crap is out of hand.
I have never been a casual Ute fan, but this may be what I will be…[Read more]

ProudUte started the topic Help me feel good about 2025 football in the forum Football 2 months, 2 weeks ago
I want to see Utah football have a successful season. I admit that I still have a bad taste in my mouth after the 2024 season. That team was hard to watch. Sure, if Rising remained healthy, the story would have been different. However, we need to be better than that. Players will get injured.
As I see it, the offense should be better, mostly…[Read more]

ProudUte replied to the topic BYU lost two football starters to the portal today in the forum Football 2 months, 2 weeks ago
Yes, BYU got a lot of bounces during he season, which helped them have an 11-2 season. However, I noticed that they enjoyed playing together. They were having fun, and showed confidence. This is much like the Utes from 2017 to 2022.
BYU did not lose many players from last season, and they return their starting QB. If their QB stays healthy, I…[Read more]

On the one hand, this brings a smile to my face, as they are our rivals in everything, and they are getting a bit of their own medicine, given that their basketball team is paid more than any other team.
However, the portal and NIL have srewed college football, possibly forever. Imagine an NFL player having the right to leave every year and…[Read more]

A year ago I was fine with Harlan. Not so much now. I do like the hire of Alex Jensen, but I am not sure he had a lot to do with getting him to come home.
If the Red Rocks pull off a national championship on Saturday, the Utes will have two this season. Not many ADs can say that. That being said, for me, it’s all about football.
