ParticipantAs merely a filthy casual fan, never going to a meet but watching occasionally on TV, I’m not knowledgeable on the sport and the scoring. But they did say this was one of the closest and competitive meets, and it seemed that way to me from watching on TV. But I wasn’t sure if they were just saying that and being caught up in the moment or just over the top commentary.
Too me, after the meet they seemed to spend more time talking about all the other teams besides Utah, hoping that draws more motivation for the Red Rocks

ParticipantIt is feeling a lot like a HOU roste, which I guess AJ did say the team as an example of a team he wanted to build.

ParticipantYeah, every freshman needs to hit the weight room. He was listed at 6’3″ and just over 300 lbs. That’s a big boy, especially for a freshman.
So that makes 3 freshman DTs as depth for the Utes that can hopefully all grow together, and judging by his body type, he’d be the run stopper of the group.

ParticipantI personally never had an issue with it. And while I understand people wanting to know and not liking not knowing, it surprised me how much it blew up and how big of a deal it became.
Kinda theory vs. practice, in theory, there should’ve been no issues with Whitt’s decision, but then we all found out in practice that was not the case.

ParticipantThis is from an ESPN “bounce back” article. Those are some serious injury numbers and not at just 1 or 2 positions.
Utah Utes: Along with UCF, Utah was one of only two teams to start four different quarterbacks in 2024. The Utes were also among only four teams to start at least 11 different receivers or tight ends and among five teams to start at least nine defensive linemen. If you’re looking for an easy explanation for how they fell from 65th to 96th in offensive SP+ and from 8-5 to 5-7 overall, that’s pretty succinct and telling.

ParticipantYep, pretty much means they already know where they’re going, so there’s no need for anyone to reach out.
But that would be impossible since they can’t be contacted unless they’re in the portal, because no one tampers…. lol

ParticipantThat’s what is most surprising to me is that everything was pointing to him being the #1WR and making it hurt.
Doesn’t look like it is likely, but here’s to hoping he comes back.

ParticipantHa. Just saw this and came to post the same.
Funny, there is an alert on my phone came that he visited but noticed it was dated 3 or 4 days ago, so I went to check if there was anything new. And boom, this was just minutes before.
I was honestly looking or expecting DT news, but CB depth was also needed, probably 2nd most.
Whenever I see this size and speed, Sean Smith’s name comes to mind, but rarely do they live up to him, but it’s still a good get and good to have the potential with that height and speed.

ParticipantWell, he was with TTU his freshman year he’s leaving TAMU now. So, if TTU is still trying to keep him , it might explain how they lost him. No one with TTU knows he’s not on the team anymore.
but seriously, I would never complain about getting 5 star talent, especially at WR.

ParticipantI could post paragraphs on the Jazz as I am still a big fan, but this is a Utes site, so I usually don’t
The NBA is a different beast, and tanking is a part of the game for rebuilding teams, especially small market ones.
Ryan Smith is directly responsible for the rebranding gone wrong, which he started to fix this season and had to pay the nba for to change the uniforms again so quickly. And he’s responsible for hiring Ainge, so he’s indirectly responsible for his decisions.
This is the worst season, by design, in Jazz history all in hopes of getting Cooper Flagg. Let’s hope it pays off.
For the record, the Jazz have never picked first, have never moved up in the lottery (the ping pong balls have not been kind) only stayed in the same spot or moved back, they’ve also never won a coin flip in tie scenarios.
I could go on and get further into specifics, but I’ll stop there, sorry.
