It’s not just about having a healthy experienced QB. Outside of Micah Bernard, Utah didn’t gain much in rushing yards. The new RBs this year really need to step up.

      Team Rushing Yards
      2024: 1565
      2023: 2373
      2022: 3077
      2021: 3035
      2019: 2819
      2018: 2551
      2017: 2187
      2016: 2815
      2015: 2401

You’d think Utah did something special those two years.

Lol!!! A healthy focused team does not lose to UCLA.

Yes UCLA has the transfer QB but lacks the overall talent Utah does.

There will be more Utah fans in Pasadena than UCLA fans. That program has no juice right now.

Utah will run the ball to keep ucla offense off the field. Quick short passes to get guys in space.

Utah is favored by -6.5 if they lose it will be a major disappointment to start the season.

There have been guys. It’s been a product of a system / coach to me. You look at Tim Patrick and Devaughn Vele and success in the NFL just recently. I’m forgetting others to be sure.

Just this last year I fully expect Dorian Singer to go from undrafted free agent to a solid NFL player. I don’t think a team has ever wasted talent so much before.

Wide receiver has consistently been one of the toughest positions for the Utes to recruit and get consistently good production from. No doubt.

If only they could be more like TDS and their high flying offense. Right? They currently have 2 WR’s in the NFL.

      Utah has 3.

I’m not counting training camp spots so TDS could have more but so could Utah with Singer in a strong spot to make the Jags.

All the things you listed are the only reasons he was available and in the portal.

      Counter Point
With ND highly touted recruit, who didn’t live up to those expectations. But ND has those every year and so he easily replaced, so he transferred for opportunity and fresh start.

With Cal, he was injured. As frustrating as they are, it’s part of the game, and can only control so much with injuries. And Cal is in a bit of turmoil, with realignment, many players xferr’d and coach on the hot seat, he decided to leave.

He came to Utah seeing a huge opportunity to contribute, he’s more mature, knows this is his last chance to prove himself. Hopefully he does work hard and finally is able to put his physical talents together with his now more mature mentality.
