If I understand it right, BYU’s roster size is significantly over the limit and they’re having to shed players. Doesn’t mean they can’t/won’t find a scholarship for talent.
Anyone know what our roster situation is? Proud is right, we need LB talent like this with Damuni leaving after this year.

Would you rather the talent you just described getting 10-15 touches a game (RB) or 3-5 (utility or TE)?
And isn’t NJ our utility player? How many utility players make sense?

Parker is the one established talent in the room, just like MB was last year. Beyond Parker we have two RBs who were backups on MW teams and unproven freshmen.
So, how is this year’s RB room any different? And no, MB wasn’t “injured a lot” last season. Where are you getting that from? MB went for 1,000 yds (more than Parker btw) against stacked…[Read more]

TE is not the position for him in this offense. Our RB room in its current state is no better than it was last year, why is Andrews not part of that mix? We need talent at that position.

Taylor let go for misconduct. Two different investigations that he appeared to survive. Committed to do better last week following the most recent investigation then Andrew Luck, Stanford Football GM, dropped the axe today.

Apologies, I intended something different. I think BYU lost both the Fanos (both highly recruited) partly due to Logan’s discontent.

Package deal can giveth and taketh, may be a good idea to keep Christian happy.

KD and Ezra play the same position. Both want starter minutes. KD is the better player. KD is younger. No brainer.

BYU MBB is legit. You have/will have talent that you never had before and coaching appears to be as good as you’ve ever had. You’re on a heater right now, will be a tough out for any team.
BYU FB was an anomaly in 2024. Here you are less talented than most if not all B12 teams you face, but well coached defensively and opportunistic (ni…[Read more]

I’m by no means a BYU apologist in any way, but we are exaggerating their NIL deal with Dybantsa.
Their donors are paying $3m to Dybantsa, not $8m or $7m noted above. Endorsement deals with Nike and Red Bull will pay him $5m next year.
Why is this an important detail?
1 – BYU’s coffers aren’t $7m to $8m deep for one player. Their buying power…[Read more]

Guillory is the highest rated recruit of the 2 FR, had multiple blue chip offers.
I put zero stock in the MW transfers. Why do we think backups from NM and UNLV will be more than backups on a P4 team?
-
Yergensen replied to the topic FOOTBALL in the forum Football 1 month, 1 week ago
Unless Guillory rises up, this is one man RB room. Kinda like last year.

Proud, there’s some clarification on Dybantsa’s NIL from BYU.
BYU donors will not be paying $8m in NIL, they will be paying closer to $3m. Dybantsa will be making the $5m balance through endorsement deals.

Mason Madsen is the other beneficiary of the coaching change.
In the 2 games since the change KD has averaged 16.5 ppg and 10.5 rpg. MM has averaged 9.5 ppg.
You and I had called out Smith here for grossly underutilizing these 2, primarily because they led the team in BPM or productivity, yet were in bottom half of team minutes.
Goes to show…[Read more]

Ludwig should have adapted his scheme to the talent and weapons.
I’ll one up you, can you imagine NJ and JJ running option as a QB and RB duo with either of them interchangeable at either position? Lord help me.
Instead we got 13 games of Bryson Barnes, runs up the middle into full boxes and the occasional double reverse in the red zone. But h…[Read more]

We would have to go on a hot streak just to swirl and you can’t go on streaks when you can’t win road games.

Substitution Patterns and Lineup Uncertainty
“Perhaps the most maddening aspect of the inconsistency theme is the substitution patterns, which have been discussed for much of the season. The rotations appear to lack continuity, with players often not knowing when or how long they will be on the floor.
This uncertainty can lead to lapses in f…[Read more]
