From the defense perspective, on 3rd or 4th and one, the defense always feels much better when the QB goes into shotgun. Very few QBs are regular on short throws. But the defense catches a huge break if the O runs out of the shotgun. Everyone is coming including from the outside.
Ludwig must add a QB sneak to his book. It takes 3 linemen that can take a step very low with the advantage of knowing the snap count. Fire off and go low. If not, throw the ball and enjoy your pass completion rate of success. If you are struggling in the trench on regular downs expect close to zero running out of shotgun in that situation. Poorly executed sneaks will fare better.
