We act like we’re a 6-6 team that won a random lottery to play USC in the Championship Game.
When in reality we are 2 passes from being a one loss team.
If Cam hits Solo in the back of the end-zone at Florida and makes an easy 4 and 2 completion to a wide open Kincaid at Oregon, both games are wins.
Colorado was the first game, since Cam came back that the temperature at kickoff was above 45 degrees. Anyone that has had a bum knee knows that games in the rain, in the cold and cold and misty like Oregon, don’t help that feel better. It took a series or two but he got in his groove, at Colorado. 3 headed running back group to help balance the run and pass. Let’s be honest, Tavion was in no way in shape and ready to be the bell cow back for the last USC game. This is money game for Cam, Dalton and CPIII.

Tied for 9th in NCAA scoring per game.
Massey has us 59 to 41 win percent.
      ESPN 61 to 39

I’m nervous but come on, I know it was Colorado but I think shaking off the Tavion stink will bring the team together again. Don’t underestimate what a cancer can do to do disrupt the team. I think we saw that last week.

Let’s use the chip on our shoulder and send USC packing.

      Go Utes!

I mean, USC is better, full stop. Remember Huntley’s last year and we went 11-3 with our three losses to USC, Oregon and Texas? They were just better than us. The sad reality is talent wins when it wants to. And USC is better than we are.

      BUT.

We don’t have zero shot to win. They have an explosive offense. We have a solid defense. Our offense is good, but I’m not sure it/Cam can get into a shootout and win.

We have to play tough defense. We have to make the game as short as possible. We have to be able to run the ball. If we had Thomas and could give him 30 carries, I’d feel really good about this game. We don’t. And we don’t have another Thomas.

We will have to grind this thing out. Run the ball. Run the clock. Not allow USC to get explosive plays. Keep the ball in front of us. Not turn the ball over.

If that happens, I think we will have a shot to win the game late.

If not, if we turn it over, if we give up quick scoring drives to USC, it could get ugly and fast. USC will come out hyped up. If we can take their first punch or two and hit back with one or two of our own, we definitely have a shot.

Some of the older fans still have PTSD from the eighties.  I know that’s where I get my “I’ll believe it when I see it” attitude.  Sitting in a blizzard watching us get beat by UTEP will do that to a guy.

Unbelievable where we are at as a program relative to the bad old days in the early 80’s. Never EVER would I have dreamed up an age of Utah football where we are playing in our 4th consecutive PAC12 conference championship game, with a team that is a “disappointing” 9-3 record!!! 5 wins (against the likes of UTEP, New Mexico, Wyoming, Colorado State, et al from the old WAC days) was considered great. We couldn’t even compete with TDS, let alone beat them.

Live up this age we are in. Utah football is relevant on a National level. Pretty cool!

Call me crazy , looking ahead I still think we have a shot at the playoffs when it expands next year … USC is due for another loss , they’ve been living dangerously, like our chances

Remember those “epic” battles we used to have with New Mexico?…. ya, we’ve come a long way.

I was there in RES to see Rocky Long and the Lobos beat up on us…hard to believe that this is the same team…

The one team from the WAC/MWC that I miss playing (and some will question my sanity here) is Air Force.

While they were a difficult team to play, Due to their scheme/style of play, being very unique, I admire those guys and always love the flyovers from HAFB before the game, AND from the old days, when they used to bring a live Falcon and fly them around the stadium during halftime.

Otherwise, good riddance to the rest of those teams!

Those Air Force chop blocks were brutal!  I always worried about injuries when we played those guys.
