      KSL Article

Do you believe him? It has to be a bit of an exaggeration. But, the Oline seems to be performing as expected.

The KSL article by Josh Newman covers a number of other interesting topics.

I would guess he HAS gotten 8 seconds in the pocket a few times. I doubt his average time in the pocket has been 8 seconds. When you’re trying to gas somebody up, you tend to talk about their max instead of their average.

I would be more concerned if Wilson was talking about standing in the pocket for 8 seconds 🙂

I think if Dampier is given a lot of time in the pocket, the offense will have a good year. Judging by his past performance, he seems pretty good at finding open receivers way down field. If defenses are hanging back playing coverage, I think he and Beck will find a way to make them pay.

8 seconds could mean any of the following:
      Our OL is amazing
Our DL is not (could be a combo of the two)
Our WRs/TEs aren’t able to get open in 8 seconds
Dampier has a hard time making the proper pre-snap reads

Other options out there as well. 9 days until we find out which it is.

I’ll add a meaning to Dampier’s complimentary exaggeration:

He has incredible confidence in his O’Line.

        How about that one?

As an alumnus who doesn’t live in Utah, I hadn’t seen any of Dampier’s practice snaps, so I wouldn’t know how much time he’s actually getting, standing in the backfield. But as a former high school QB, I can attest that “time” is a different variable depending on where one is standing. From the sidelines, 8-sec is 8-sec. But from backfield, 4-sec feels like 8-sec!

Time speeds up when you’re on the field.

So why are the WR not getting open?

      Are the DB’s that good?

8 seconds and the bull-ride counts! Whether literal or figurative, hopefully it’s a good sign of OL prowess or confidence, even against our D.
