  say if they leave, now the ski industry is moving it’s next show to Colorado and some bike thing that had been held in Vegas isn’t going to consider SLC Now? The article has some updates

  It appears that Emerald Expositions is a significant player in bringing these shows to venues?
  
  Utahn’s are known for saying “if you don’t like it here leave”. Well isn’t that what they’ve said to OIA if you don’t like our policies leave and now it’s offensive and ingratitude that OIA did what you in essence asked them to?
  
  Governor you thought they were bluffing, they weren’t. This will have a ripple effect. Emerald Exposition isn’t even going to accept bids from the state for any of it’s future shows for anything seems to be the underlying message.
  
  It appears that the legislature may have just killed any chance of Utah hosting the Olympics again.
  
  Well done Herbert, Bishop, Chaffetz, Lee, Stewart, Love and Hatch.

  Well, let’s see what Utah wants come election time.
  
  What I want to know is how is Herbert going to replace the 450+ million dollars over the next ten years that he just walked away from.
  
  It would have been great to get the Olympics back. That is too bad.

  So frustrating that these policies are supported by the GOP and people in rural communities all over Utah keep them in office, but it is the Wasatch front that doesn’t support the party as strongly that end up paying the biggest economic price.

  I live in a rural county. We have been told that we can expect the PILT payments to go away. That is a huge tax burden on rural communities, one that the U of U study shows is not offset by recreation or tourism. So there really is a dichotomy. It’s clear the old paradigm is failing and new solutions will have to be found. It’s disappointing that the Outdoor retailers group is taking their ball an going home instead of being part of the solution.

  Here’s my problem with OIA’s entire stance……. They are picking and choosing their battles and being hypocritical about it. Snowbird is currently developing and taking over the upper portion of AF canyon to expand their resort. The plans call for thousands of new condo’s and thousands of acres converted over to ski runs. If the folks in OIA truly care about preserving the earths beauty, where are they on this one?
  
  I’m sure the face that the ski industry is heavily involved and invested in OIA have nothing to do with it, right?
  
  That is the problem with people, they care about what benefits them, not truly what will benefit mankind and earth. OIA is no different. Until they stand up for AF canyon, they can suck it!
