You can’t juggle 3 different logos and wear a different uniform combo every week and expect brand recognition and brand appeal.
Decide on and use one logo. Commit to one home and one away uniforms. You want an alternate or themed uniform and helmet, fine but it is special occasions only like Mom’s fine china. Its jersey, pants and helmet don…[Read more]

Notre Dame is sponsored by Under Armor and has an artificial turf field.
These two items are often blamed for Utah’s injury woes.
I don’t recall hearing the same about Notre Dame. Granted, I don’t follow them closely. That said, ‘brand power’ and design definitely seem lacking.
As @utegator mentioned above, I too have tried to buy Utah…[Read more]

When was the last time Utah won just two conference games? Or finished with a losing record? Yeah, up until last year, it had been over a decade since that happened. And yet it did.
If your thinking is that 9-3 is the expected result, you’re looney tunes, my friend snd absolutely bordering on the delusion we used to mock BYU fans over for so…[Read more]

I’ve told this story before, but just in case:
My son plays college soccer at an Under Armour school. When he got to summer training camp his freshman year, he was given UA boots. By the end of the first week, he couldn’t run due to plantar fascia and Achilles pain. At first the trainers blamed him and his fitness (no way – he showed up to camp…[Read more]

The problem isn’t Utah’s NIL placement below the Big 10 and SEC, it’s their placement in the Big 12. Utah is middle of the road at best when it comes to the NIL in their own conference and why they are not equipped to compete long-term with the top-half in this new landscape. The money and resources just aren’t there. They are a rung below the…[Read more]

I think a lot of this is based on the active sports. Nothing more. I personally used to love UA shirts but they have changed their fit in the past 5-6 years and I do not care for them anymore. They are way to tappered and tight for my taste and waste. As for their shoes, my son made me buy him a pair of cleats back around 2009ish and the sole…[Read more]

Speaking of merch, one thing I think we underestimate is how much the Under Armour deal is holding Utah back.
1. UA’s graphics and design are inferior to other brands, plus the prices are generally 15-20% higher than the others. I think this hurts when it comes to getting the Utah brand out on the streets.
2. The UA brand has less street cred than…[Read more] -

I also think the Utes really lack good merch. I frequently look for new ute gear to purchase and more often than not, I end up leaving empty handed. I know this has been discussed several times on here, so i’m not the only one who feels this way.

“Show me the money” will rule college FB and BB until the courts or congress (haha) intervene and put some guidelines on this madness. As previously mentioned above coaches are in a no win situation. Culture and player development only sets you up for failure. It only works if you have the money to keep your developed players.
It won’t be long…[Read more]

I go back to something I said a few weeks ago which is that throwing all of your resources at the portal is both the answer and the problem. History has proven, for me at least, that I get more out of my experience as a fan when I know who I am watching. The human element of the game is a massive part of my fandom. Like the old Seinfeld bit, I’m n…[Read more]

The last time I posted on UteHub I speculated that, in the age of NIL with a team like the Utes that has finite resources, it might make more sense to dedicate funds to the portal rather than recruiting. The Big12/ACC teams that are the most creative with NIL in the football landscape will be the most successful. With the Utes positioned above…[Read more]

It might not be fine…as an analogy, Utah might be a silent film star at the start of the sound era, and we all know what happened then. Unless strict, formal guidelines are placed on college football and basketball, the only thing that’s going to matter is how much money you can throw at those programs to keep them competitive. It really is an…[Read more]

That could be the answer. Maybe the order of merit changes based on what’s going on in the college sports world.

It’s hard to paint college football coaches in a sympathetic light given how well compensated they are these days, but I absolutely feel for them when it comes to recruiting. It was a tough gig before NIL, transfer portals, conference realignment, growing player entitlement, etc. It has got to be near impossible though now for these coaches to k…[Read more]

Well, if you ask Fanatics, not very high. I was perusing Fanatics this morning to see if there was any new Utah merch in their inventory, and I was shocked to see that Utah wasn’t one of the 80 teams on their web “quick link” (neither was BYU). To get to see Utah (and BYU) merch, you had to click on the “All 500+ NCAA teams” link. What made…[Read more]

I’m taking a wait and see approach. Miro Little was supposed to be much more of a finished product, and we saw how that relationship turned out. This guy is younger and much less experienced than Little. If he can play 8-10 productive minutes a game in his first season, I’d call that a win. Another thing about videos like this…keep in mind…[Read more]
