Did Huntley kick Gunther cat or something. Boy both these idiots were nailing Huntley today and calling for Williams.
I hadn’t listen to these 2 idiots in months and was reminded why again today. Both were very harsh

There is a loud portion of our fanbase who wants Troy.

They are idiots. Gunther is pandering to that portion.

Honestly, anyone who clamors for Troy…just end the conversation, they are clueless.

I like Troy Williams but yeah, Gunther especially is waaaay out of line on this issue. I wish they would replace him with Ben Andersen who does the postgame show. He is so much easier to listen to. I like Tom but only as a funny sidekick type.

I’d love to see Ben Andersen get a spot. I really enjoyed him on 1320.

I like Ben Andersen but Kyle Gunther taps into Bill Riley’s mindset of entertainment first. Bill Riley misjudges the power of media platforms over Utah’s grass level fans.  Hans Olsen and Sean O’Connell were both very detailed in their analysis.  Ben Anderson also in this regard but isn’t even competitve to the ‘entertainment first’ program Bill Riley wants. The newsflash to Bill Riley is that most people aren’t listening to AM radio or downloading their app.  Turtle and the Hare analogy is apt currently in Utah sports.  More analysis and unbiased Utah sports coverage will win in the long term.  But try convincing the ‘boss’ of espn700 that he’s ever wrong.  Good luck.

At this point in the season it would make zero sense to go back to Troy.  Our wagon is hitched to Huntley and if he doesn’t develop we will have yet another year of mess next year.

Gunther and Hackett are destroying Ute radio. Gunther acts like a 13 year old and has been anti Troy Taylor since Roderick was let go. I no longer listen to the station which I used to do almost every day. Hopefully the ratings will get them tossed and they’ll be replaced with someone who actually knows something. I’m tired of their petulant ranting.

It just seamed like there was an axe to grind. Some of their reasoning was so far fetched. Even saying we beat Oregon with Williams. Not that Williams has shown putting 40+ points up on the board as a usual. But they seemed to think so

I can easily see how Utah beats any one or all of asu, wazzu, or Oregon with williams. Even though Huntley is a more naturally gifted athlete and has a higher ceiling, you can’t replace experience and the resulting better decision making. I can understand why the coaches made the decision they did to play him this year for a payoff in the future, it just sucks taking those L’s now.

We’ll have to agree to disagree on that. Huntley’s decision making will assuredly improve with time and experience, but I have zero doubt that Troy doesn’t throw 4 picks against each ASU and wazzu.

Troy’s two picks vs Stanford were far worse than anything Huntley has done.

With how Huntley was playing before he was hurt, you could argue we beat USC and Stanford with a healthy Huntley.

With how he was playing against our first 3 cupcake opponents? I like Tyler and his potential a lot, but I don’t think he beats arguably the best opponents we’ve played just because he looked good against tds. I just don’t think you can replace pac 12 experience. I think you can fairly say that had Tyler played usc/Stanford, he probably has a better showing against asu and wazzu.

USC had something like 23 injured players vs Utah. That game should have been a blowout. A healthy Huntley definitely beats USC, and Stanford. Williams couldn’t keep a drive going when the defense needed it most.

I can’t defend 53% completion and I agree with making the change to Huntley, but actually I think the current o line functions better with a qb like Williams who stays in the pocket more. They seem to be struggling to block the rpo correctly which is Huntley’s big threat, leaving him too exposed. They have a lot to clean up for next year for sure.

Williams does not stay in the pocket. He created tons of pressure by escaping into the DE pass rush for no reason.
Huntley does this too but is athletic enough to escape still.

Watching Williams run into the pressure was so frustrating. Huntley at least has the excuse to say lack of experience. Williams just seems lazy or disinterested.

They try RPO plays more with Huntley, and the o line struggles to block this play. Watch it, the play most often either ends in getting blown up, or an illegal man downfield penalty, only occasionally Huntley manages to escape.

I don’t see Williams being able to survive behind this o-line. His 53% completion percentage would encourage defenses to blitz even more.

I drive a lot for work and every time I hear Gunther whining about Troy not being the starter, I change the channel.

It seems like he talks about the same points everyday. I don’t listen to it much anymore

Williams inability to hit the wide open receiver on the 2 point conversion at USC was a benchable offense. He is so single minded that once he tucked the ball he couldn’t process the fact that a guy was wide open.
