    Zoob is as zoob does. I think it is a positive for TDS. It doesn’t really concern me as far as W/L for the game in November. I just worry about the amount of injuries Utah racks up. It really is like Pittsburgh playing the Browns this weekend. What is the point really??

  I think the fact that A-rod ended up as an assistant at a school like BYU tells you all you need to know about what other programs thought of him as an OC at Utah. A lot of people have questioned whether it was the right move to fire him after winning 10 and 9 games, and I think this can at least put that to bed. Some may debate whether or not it was the right move to hire Troy Taylor (personally I am excited about the future with him at the helm), but the fact A-rod had to settle for an assistant position at a low paying independent school tells me he didn’t have many options.

    Arod is a good dude and yes he is completely out of his element when it comes to running an offense. However I will defend his options. I think he is a pretty broken guy after what happened. I know some things in his family life keep him in Utah. Did you ever think that maybe he is doing this for his family staying local? He tried the Washington thing realized it was a big mistake for his family and came back. I don’t agree with Whitt taking him back but I admire him making his choices for his family.

      Agreed he seems like a good dude. I have heard several interviews with him and he has been very classy with regards to his former employer up on the hill. I’m sure he will help tds, but that said, I don’t think they will return to the lofty ideal that their delusional fan base expects.

      This is a good point. I actually had thought of that, but thought it seemed pretty unlikely. Coaching is a fickle business and he hasn’t made the legacy/foundation money that would be necessary to take the lesser paying job at a lesser school. If it doesn’t work out at BYU for him, who knows where his next stop will be? You have to take the money when you have a chance.
      
      You very well could be right. I don’t know his family situation at all.
      
      I have nothing against A-Rod. He seems like a good guy from everything I could tell and I think he did a lot of good things while at Utah. Whether it is lack of experience, imagination, intellect, leadership or something else, I don’t think he currently has the tools to be an effective offensive coordinator. I have a hard time believing he would turn down an OC job at even an MWC/ACC type school to take an assistant/passing game coordinator position at BYU. My guess is that option wasn’t there for him. Could be wrong, but if he did turn it down, it could be a long time and a hard road before he gets that chance again if things don’t well at BYU, and based on the personnel they have coming back and the schedule they will be facing, it’s a long shot that they win more than 6 games next year.
