As well as some other thoughts I had watching the game.

      1. This loss is not on Huntley. He wasn’t great, he was just pretty good. He made the throws to keep the drive alive at the end (minus that last one that was a long shot anyways). He made better decisions when running the ball, with a few exceptions, and he was more decisive when running and handing off. He improve.

      2. This is loss is not on Troy Taylor. Troy’s gameplan was good. He called the plays we needed to win this football game, but players that had nothing to do with the success of the plays got in the way and ruined his good play calls (terrible pass on the trick play, and multiple penalties negating first downs). If two throws were better, we would have won that game going away.

      3. This is NOT a winning football team. This team is NOT worth a ruined weekend not spent with the wife and kids. This team is clearly not in it to win it. So why do I even bother watching?

      4. This team shoots itself in the foot year after year after year. We have always had enough talent to win the south (with the exception of the losing season years IMO). We have always been in positision to win the south… but EVERY DAMN TIME WE HAVE A CHANCE TO DO SOMETHING IMPORTANT WE SHOOT OURSELVES IN THE FOOT! This has been going on for years, and we no longer have excuses.

      5. We could have won this game easily. Terrible missed throw on the trick play. Stupid and unnecessary (and very weak) block in the back on the punt return. ABSOLUTELY HORRID TACKLING by Blackmon and Ballard on the long touchdown by WSU. Stupid false start in a crucial situation. Even stupider and more unnecessary holding in a crucial situation. Am I missing anything?

It honestly feels like these guys don’t want to win the football game. There are only a handful of dudes on this team that I give two farts about, and none of them are good enough to win ball games for us in the Pac 12.

This football team, and their collective lack of givas**t when it matters most is a slap in the face to us fans.

Until some sort of radical change takes place in the makeup of this team, I will not be watching another game. It just isn’t worth my time if the players won’t bother to do what it takes to win games that are in our grasp. I am tired of just being in the games, that isn’t enough, we need to win.

While I said that this loss wasn’t Huntley’s fault, he still needs to be benched. He is a decent QB, but he isn’t good enough to win games for this team when we need him to. He makes some goodish throws, but misses a lot of easy ones. He doesn’t completely miss dudes, but he is almost never right on target with throws. He is almost always late on his throws, and routinely underthrows guys. His best weapon throwing the ball is drawing pass interference calls with his underthrown passes. I think the big change that needs to happen is his being benched, but it won’t happen. He’ll play out the rest of the season unless he gets hurt. The coaching staff will pull another dick move like that did with Troy and bench Huntley next year in the fall when he no longer has time to really transfer, in his senior season, when he is fully expecting to start.

If Huntley is the best option at QB, we are going to be a terrible team for the next 4 years. If Tuttle doesn’t throw a more accurate ball than Huntley, even as a true freshman, we are screwed screwed screwed at QB yet again. Is it too much to ask to have a QB that can throw the ball to a runner more than 3 yards down field in stride? Every catch that was made (other than the one to Covey that was called back) required an adjustment by the receiver. Huntley got the job done, but he shouldn’t be our best option at QB.

I will not be watching any games until a significant change is made to this team. In other words, new coach, or new QB, or a drastic change in the attitude of this team some other way (don’t see how that one is even possible), and I will start watching this team again. Until then, they don’t deserve the attention of ANY Ute fan that isn’t the family member of a player on the team.

      WHAT A DISGRACE!

It’s starting to feel like Whittingham is done after this year whether he gets canned or not. I think he might actually retire after this year.

This is the closest summary to how I feel about the Utes this year. Until we bench Huntley we will not win more than 6-7 games. Staring down the barrel at an 0-3 start to conference play. Disgusting.

Do we have a kick time for the Stanford game yet?  They are going to drop out of the top ten. Luckily maybe not primetime but I think a nice trail run for me with the Kall700 is what this team means to me at the moment.

Maybe if Shelley is benched I will get tickets for USC.

Actually with the new transfer rules Huntley can transfer if he has played less than four games. See Clemson’s QB who just “quit” his team after losing his “starter” status. He’d been sharing time but didn’t like losing the starter designation.

How does Leach pull in a guy like Minshew and somehow he is the one of the best two or three QBs in the Pac12.

I’d take a guy with heart like Wilson or Hays right now over Huntley. He made the right reads but at the end of the game when it counted he made some bad decisions.

I’ve already got my tickets to Arizona, but I may not be able to watch many more games like this one. We went away from the run too much in the second half. And it seems like at least every other game we give up a 60, 70, or 80 yard TD. Our D didn’t bring it when we needed, and then the offense, man can you stop shooting yourselves in the foot from short range.

At half I was optimistic, and had I known we’d hold them to 1 TD in the second half, I’d have been ecstatic about our chances, but really we played not to lose once again. And WE LOST!!!!!!

That game was well in hand, except one big play and imploding on offense at the end. SO FRUSTRATING!!!!!!

What game will we win? UCLA? Arizona? not really sure if we have another game we can win, because we’ll give up a big play or two against ASU, USC, Stanford, Oregon (multiple).

We started out in first place in the South a few years ago, got ranked in the top 10 and couldn’t handle it, this year we won’t be ranked again.

WHITTINGHAM, prepare for every freaking game like it’s a bowl game, cause you can’t win in the regular season.
