  Gunther’s arrogant style drove me nuts. But, I hate to see anyone lose his job and I am not a big fan of Checketts. His dad must have bought the station …

  I was also no fan of Gunther, his “jokes” always rubbed me the wrong way. But I hope he finds success somewhere else.

  I couldn’t stand Gunther’s tough guy, “Real ‘Murican” shtick, but thought Ben was great. Sad to see him go.
  
  Personal shortcomings aside (his multiple DUI’s), I actually kinda like Checketts as a radio guy. Would have liked to see him paired with Ben.

    While I didn’t personally like listening to him, getting fired is just a standard part of working in radio.
    
    I wouldn’t hold it against him, as that’s a pretty volatile industry.

  What time slot were they in? I don’t know the local radio hosts. Just hear them once in a while when channel surfing in the car on the way home from work.

  Just admit you guys didn’t like Gunther because he isn’t an outspoken liberal and he doesn’t spew constant Utah Koolaid from all orifices. Most of the takes people gave him crap over ended up being true, Tyler Huntley was too light and wouldn’t finish the season, Troy Taylor’s offense is garbage, etc

    He was all up on Troy Taylors nuts when he was hired and throughout the first season. He talked in circles and openly supports Trump, which which just shows he he doesn’t think much before he speaks. Taking a political stance on sports radio is just poor business. Sponsors don’t want to hear that s**t.
    
    Radio is basically dead. Without the Shane company they’d all be without a job.

  Never was a fan of Gunther; Ben was OK. I did like the fact that Utah sports were central to thier show.
  
  I have never liked Checketts. He’ll spend most of his time talking NBA.

    When I surfed past their station they never talked Utah sports. The Jazz periodically I guess.

      I don’t understand that. I listened to the podcast on and off and it seemed that even in the off season Utah sports, especially football, was 80 percent of the show. They did have one segment where they would talk about wacky crap from around the country, maybe you kept catching that.
