CR England trucking hauls Utah football equipment around. They are a billion dollar family owned company and current CEO Chad England is an Utah grad.
I would imagine they are a significant donor.

They’re from Pakistan…they kept talking about ship tenders in Lahore. Lahore is Pakistan’s biggest port city.

I’m not sure, but the guy I always see at the Crimson Club events is Spencer Eccles…he’s been right after Kyle when it comes to lifting any silverware the last few seasons.

I hear you Miami. I’ve followed Ute bb since the old Einer Neilson fieldhouse( pre Huntsman). We need to get the best local talent and find players to fit a system. We can’t get the big stars so have to settle for secondary talent. Jensen would be best at local recruiting because of his local ties and he is LDS which helps with the locals. Mil…[Read more]

Yeah I can see the country that the IP address is coming from, but that doesn’t mean they’re there.

I think it goes beyond just purely money. Smith has never been a good recruiter. You have to be a salesman in this business and he just isn’t. He couldn’t even sell himself to the “whales” to get the NIL funding. Doesn’t that tell us something? They didn’t buy into him. Realistic recruits we wanted most weren’t buying into him. He was just…[Read more]

The Ken Garff Family…I’d definitely start with them…also include Leo and Harriet Hopf, and the Dolores Doré Eccles Foundation. Those are the biggest whales in the Utah Athletics constellation.

Larry Bird was a hell of a player, not a great coach. I don’t know that playing time necessarily translates to coaching ability. He was point guard (basketball’s quarterback) so he does have that going for him.

He might not be the only one. Seems like the current ownership group values money above everything else. Also definitely seems that whatever shot they had to be relevant in the NBA playoffs is gone.

I have to say that if the next head coach isn’t Alex Jensen, it’ll feel like a bust for me. Both Coach K and Smith were serial winners and a regular presence at the Dance before coming to Utah. So, for me, that means that I’m very lukewarm on a coach that’s won in a lower conference without Utah ties. As we’ve seen, the Utes haven’t had a good…[Read more]

I keep hearing that the whales and President Randall are going to pick the next coach – I really wonder who the whales actually are these days?
It will be very telling if we get Jensen and Miller to see what investments in the team these whales are willing to make. I find it just a little hard to believe that there are several big money people…[Read more]

Harlan is not calling the shots here. He had his chance he hired his guy when he hired Smith and the boosters showed their displeasure by not supporting him with NIL.
The boosters want Miller Jensen or both. President Randle will make the ultimate decision so when it comes to basketball Harlan has been chopped off at the knees.
Utah by law for…[Read more]

I honestly believe Harlan is just as likely to go after a mediocre Junior Jazz coach…

I think 95% of our fan base wants Jensen. Give him a bag to try and get him here. I’d think he’d be more willing to leave Dallas with Luka gone. Let’s step up and give this basketball program a shot in the arm.

This is a true statement provided Smith doesn’t coach at another school that plays a team coached by Young.

I agree with everything AZUTE. One other point Jensen is LDS. Lots of the top Utah recruits are LDS. The Josh Grant interview was spot on. I’ve followed Utah basketball since the Hunstman center was opened. Local talent has always been a backbone of the program. Hard to believe we can’t find a point guard or any other position with all the in sta…[Read more]
