I’ve loved my time at Utah. It has been the experience of a lifetime. Having said that, I’m really not that good at my job and seem to drive away 4-star running backs after they don’t develop and get carries. Having said that, you thought I was leaving, but I will be back … ooops, ‘we will be back’ to provide you with easy fodder for your message boards.

I thought it was a joke when texted to me, but it showed up on the Utes Athletic and Football Instagram, so it was official. It was really, really weird IMO. Old school looking letterhead? Surprised they didn’t use Papyrus or Comic Sans as the font …
Agree that it was clunky changing from I’m back to We are back. Just odd. Like some PR intern…[Read more]

I wonder if a Zoob troll posted that. It’s obviously not from the school or Whitt. The letterhead and information on it look ridiculous.

It’s not our starter that’s for sure. We do have a completely empty QB room. So we’re probably looking for a lot of depth guys that can fit the dual threat profile.

The students did not sign something giving away their rights
That’s not true. Students gave away their rights to NIL which was clearly stipulated when they signed their scholarship agreements. O’Bannon v NCAA is what changed that.
The scholarship agreements were binding on the student because their Parent / Guardian also signed and that hasn’t changed.

The decision was not an effort to fix sports- rather the courts recognized that the way athletes were being treated was illegal.
The athletes made decisions while legally children and were bound to that decision as adults- illegal.
The athletes were not allowed to own the value of their own names and likenesses based, again, on decisions they…[Read more]

News release from CBS Sports/247 Sports. Matt Zenitz reporting
“Cam Rising not expected to return to Utah
It appears that Cam Rising’s run at Utah is over.”“The current expectation is that the star QB won’t be back with the Utes next season, sources tell CBS Sports/247Sports.”
Now, for me, I’m not taking a position one way or the other…[Read more]

Pretty interesting piece by Bloomberg. Something I didn’t know were how much much money NIL ($1.97B) comes from collective (80%). The story from Washington is interesting. I can see more and more litigation against universities from players.

Hopefully depth piece. Had a killer game vs Illinois then stunk the rest of his games.

I’ll shove a perfectly good burrito into the trash if this happens.

Looks like he’s going to have to cut down on the partying, although I guess BYU turns a blind eye to that kind of stuff with athletes, barring any pregnancies.

With many of our players entering the transfer portal, there is a few coaches that I wouldn’t mind seeing enter as well.

Cam was given another year of eligibility after a lawsuit with the NCAA. I forget which one. It reinstated the year he lost sitting out when he transferred from Texas to Utah.

Five games where the offense had one single TD (in one of them a pick-6 and a TD on a blocked punt wasn’t enough for a win, another was against a TCU team that gave up 66 points to their twin-cities rival SMU).

We would have been 11-1 with a average offense.

This tells me that all we needed was a middle of the road offense to be CFP caliber. Thinking about each loss, this checks out. With a 2021/22 offense, we’re 13-0 and #2 in the final ranking. Just like most that know the program were expecting.
