Yep in this day and age, teams can bounce back almost immediately with the transfer portal. If coaches can get the team to gel, success can be almost immediate.

But the schemes have to be simple. Personalities have to mesh, and NIL be solid.

We only needed an adequate offense last year to hit 9 or 10 wins. Jason is a very good and a great QB coach. I’m pumped. Go Utes!

My biggest hope is that Beck will be able to do whatever is required to move the ball and score points with the personnel available to him. Hopefully he can also help QBs develop. We will see.

I’m hoping if Utah lands him, his trajectory will be similar to that of Huntley. I mean he’s pretty explosive on the ground and just seems to make plays through the air. Yah he throws picks but he can flat out score points. Also he looked really good vs P4 comp.

If we are looking at stats, New Mexico and us both played Utah state, and New Mexico had slightly better stats on offense. Just saying. And it was before our melt down so team morale was still good

Fair point. But if you’re in the “we lost Arbuckle, wah” crowd then I don’t think you should be in the New Mexico OC sucks crowd when New Mexico beat Wazzu and are very similar in offensive production.

I do not think anyone is disputing that New Mexico played weaker competition than P4 conferences. But all four of the OCs that were being considered (Washington State, Texas State, UNLV, and New Mexico) are all at that same lower level (New Mexico was essentially in the same conference as Washington State and UNLV). Like many have said, if you took BYU and Bronco off Beck’s resume, we’d be happy.

Jason Beck needs to bring in a new RB coach. Unfortunately, our RB room has gotten worse and worse every year under Ganther.

I never thought in my lifetime we would be analyzing New Mexico football statistics to feel better about a Utah hire.

Fifita then Dampier at QB but both if possible. Nate at slot only no matter who they bring in or keep at QB.

Fifita looked really good in 2023 against everyone he played. And since Arizona got the worst of the Saban retiring coaching carousel, I’d be willing to look past his 2024 numbers and see what he can do. Even with his 2024, Fifita has a better resume than Huard, Wilson or Rose and I would take him over Dampier. The question will be how many…[Read more]
