I never thought in my lifetime we would be analyzing New Mexico football statistics to feel better about a Utah hire.

Fifita then Dampier at QB but both if possible. Nate at slot only no matter who they bring in or keep at QB.

That’s why I’m saying no added value. Beck isn’t going to run a true run-spread with all those TE’s on the roster so the playbook will be similar to what we’ve seen the last 6 years. We can only hope the order of the playcalls is more effective than lately.

I still hope that Whitt retires (doubtful). If he does – I think Beck will open things up. He will build the offense around the skillset of he QB as he should.

Agree with most of that but I question whether Bronco will be a lifer. Put up a couple of good seasons and when the P2 start throwing money at you it’s tough to not take the Gary Anderson to Wisconsin route. Anderson could have been king of Logan for as long as he wanted and potentially a consistent rival to Boise and occasional thorn in Whitt’s side.

I understand Dampier did it in the MWC, but Johnson hasn’t done it.

When I check stats, I usually remove the team in question (New Mexico) from the yearly stats and then compare that game to see see if they performed better or worse. For the below I’m calling within +/- 40 yards and +/- 3 points as equal to the opponent’s standard.

Dampier looks great, especially for his first year as a starter. The question isn’t whether we would want him or not, but whether we can get him above other teams. The “lower level teams” argument isn’t as strong when you consider what Diego Pavia has been able to do at Vandy coming from NM State.

If it’s between Dampier, Fifita or Nate Johnson, I’d go this way:

Fifita – First choice. He’s a QB who has actually had success on this level.
Nate Johnson – He’s a QB who has actually had experience at this level.
Dampier – He’s a bargain level Johnson.

Me too about Woods. I was really excited to get him from Idaho.

I think this is homerun hire for Utah State.

Jay Hill or Bronco would be lifers for that school (or Hill would be a lifer until he got the Utah job).

The MWC or PAC conference are extremely winnable. They will be on the top of the conference for a while now. Great hire for Utah State.

Why isn’t Fafita on the list? also I am not excited to see Mat sluka guy abandoned his team after 4 games to chase a bag. The team went on to have a great season anyway, kinda seems like he wasn’t the cause of their early success.

I love Bronco Mendenhall. He is a great coach. I think he will do great things at Utah State… If he stays for more than a year.

the RB coach sucks the wind right out of players. Utah played 2 1/2 backs all year, mostly just one. for the most part. sorry ass coaching all around the offensive. not getting any better next year,
