My thoughts also. Not sure Wilson’s bad habits can be changed in two weeks. Rose is more of a wildcard. If he can get rid of the ball quick and hit the back in the flat to nullify the blitz he should be the starter.

I guess that answers my question of why Huard isn’t in the picture.

Will that attitude transfer to the team or will they fight back and put BYU back in their place. My confidence level is the lowest in 15 years but I’m curious to see which team shows up. BYU is coming to RES to send a message and they will be ready to dominate early and take the crowd out. Let’s win the toss take the ball first and go down and score.

I’d love to see Rose vs Poo Poo U. Even just for the intrigue. Why not see what happens? Literally cannot get worse offensively.

Interesting thoughts Ghost. Rose must have a big chip on his shoulder like Cam when Brewer was handed the starting job. Million dollar question “who gives us the best chance to win”. Hill will put heavy pressure on both regardless who starts. We’ve seen it the last 4 games. Can we adjust and take advantage?

The team hasn’t been ready to play since the OK State game. I have zero confidence the team will be ready to play on November 9th.
Hoping for the best, but expecting the worst.

Thumbs down to the injury, not the post. That sucks for him. I guess that leaves us with Rose and IW. At what point do we bring Ferrari Bottari back in?!

Since the Utes joined the Pac12 the rivalry game became less relevant. The coaching and talent level switched to our favor. The result 9 wins in a row. We expected to win and they expected to lose.
Now the rolls are reversed. Suddenly the rivalry game is back and has meaning for both teams. For the first time in 15 years they are favored to win…[Read more]

Can’t speak for Only U, but here are some thoughts:
I don’t think we would have seen IW pulled from the Houston game if Ludwig was still OC. Ludwig was tight with IW and an integral part of his recruiting process. With the way that process went and the strong pushes made by some big brands late (*cough* Georgia), I’m fairly certain there were…[Read more]

Will be interesting to see how the high-profile well-paid athletes playing in the Marriot Center perform. On paper they look so strong, but can the newcomers all play together as the best team?
Utah’s (and BYU’s) greatest teams making deep runs in March over the years were groups of players who had many years together. But it is a whole new…[Read more]

I hopped on the no more Cam train about two games into last season, maybe three. Cam has NEVER made it through a full season without an injury. That means bowl game too. The most games he played in a season I believe was 2022, but was hurt against Penn St. and that was the worst injury, more so than his shoulder.
If Cam comes back next year, I’m…[Read more]

I agree with this thought- you can do whatever you want with your money, but there are consequences- people will be turned off by the spending and high level spending that seems to be moving forward at byu- I’m a L.ds, and know many non LDS who are turned off by the amount of money that is spent on the temples. You can try to explain what they m…[Read more]

Thanks for another good post. I agree with everything you’ve pointed out. It’s just human nature to complain about your rival when they’re winning and you’re not.
I have followed Cougarboard for a couple years and the roles were completely reversed last year. Boycott the Garffs and Utah is just buying their teams while we would never pay players…[Read more]

Nobody is arguing they shouldn’t be able to do what they want with their money. Again, it’s a bad look whether it’s BYU or one of their boosters paying big money for a player of any sport. Because as an outsider looking in at the faith you’re going to be cynical. Regardless if the institution is putting up the money or not, there’s a…[Read more]

The more teams are composed of merc transfers and kids who see play time linked to NIL $ the more this will be true for us and every other team. This is already upon us and is only going to get worse. I don’t see many teams maintaining identity and chemistry for more than rare random years going forward. Not just a Ute issue but because we were…[Read more]

It’s a valid concern.
However, if there are several uber wealthy LDS families that are bankrolling this, then that’s their choice. I would get your argument it if it were the institution of BYU or the LDS church using tithing money or something. But that’s not the case here. You have several LDS families who have probably already paid millions in…[Read more]

Question regarding everyone’s favorite topic: the Utah quarterback situation. Is the QB battle this week more about Isaac being banged up and seeing if Rose has more rhythm with the offense? If it is injury related, why wouldn’t Rose just be the starter vs Poo Poo U? Everything I’ve read seems to suggest the staff afraid of benching Wilson and h…[Read more]

Happens at the pro level all the time. A slow leak of discontentment at first but then as the losses and lack of targets, production etc add up, it turns into a full blown sinking ship.
