  • As frustrating as 2023 was with Bryson Barnes, I’d happily go back to 2023 and the Bryson Barnes led offense. This sounds nice for the wins and losses but if Utah still had Bryson Barnes in 2024 would that just be putting off the underlying offensive and QB problems until 2025?

I don’t see the physical tools in Wilson that I saw in a Jayden Daniels or Cam Ward. Both of them had a lot more raw physical gifts in terms of arm strength/talent and mobility. In Wilson I see a kid who has grown up being spoon fed the QB position and I’m not convinced his ceiling is all that high.

Building a game plan around Huard might be a way to change things up but does it feel desperate at this point?

Completely agree. Let’s hope Wilson doesn’t transfer.

  • This team put too much pressure on itself to win. All year it seems like they play to not lose and make things harder on the whole team. It’s a domino effect that hits all phases. The kicking game is a reflection on the whole team.

  • A few years ago a freshman QB by the name of Jayden Daniels came to RES. He played for ASU. He was horrible and I remember thinking this guy is highly touted. By who ? He could run but couldn’t throw. Two years ago Dante Moore a 5* from Detroit came to RES with UClA and same results. Cam Ward was horrible at WSU his first year (transferred from s…[Read more]

  • My really smart golf buddy told me something similar. I kept hitting my drives to the right. He said, “aim left.” I know. It’s crazy.

  • Joe Williams quit football because he was having mental struggles due to the loss of his sister NOT because he had a bout of fumbleitis. Don’t revise that history.

  • That is the very thing I noticed this year alone. Sitake was on the hot seat, but decided to hire some former Ute assistance under Kyle Whitt and allowed them, IMO, to do their jobs and trust them without looking over their shoulders and being a control freak. Whitt is a control freak and IMO interfered in the offense causing sub par performance…[Read more]

*Wilson fumbled, Houston got the ball at the Utah 28
*Utah defense held Houston at the 1
*Utah had a 3 and out, punted for net 21 yards
*Houston got the ball at the Utah 23 and scored a touchdown

Point being, anyone selling that goal-line stand as “And Houston almost had another 7!” is ignoring that it kept Houston in great field position for…[Read more]

  • Great news? We are historically undefeated on bye weeks!

  • Just kidding. I don’t really care about the game at this point. I just wanted to point out that if you expected offensive improvement after less than a week of a new OC, that’s on you.

Have a good day everyone! (and by that I mean spend the smallest amount of time possible thinking about the state of Utah football, because otherwise you won’t be…[Read more]

  • No question we will beat BYU.

I don’t live in Utah anymore, but my last day there was sometime in 2013 clearing out my scientific lab at the UofU due to the prime mortgage recession, and on that day I remember having to pause for a second when I heard the roar from the crowd (2 miles away from RES)and realized we were going to beat S…[Read more]

  • The last thing we want to see is a sea of blue at the game in two weeks. We need to continue to go to the games, watch the games on TV, tailgate, ect..

The admin, the coaches and the players know what’s wrong and I believe they’re going to do what it takes to fix it. Losing the fans will only have a negative impact on recruiting and retaining…[Read more]

  • Joe Williams quit the team in 2016 because he couldn’t hang onto the ball. 4 weeks later, after all of the other scholarship backs were injured, he came back and fumbles weren’t an issue anymore. Thomas also overcame the early yips.

That’s probably the easiest thing to fix with a RB. You can’t teach them to like contact, pass blocking takes…[Read more]

  • Agree UD. Huge Bernard fan. He’s been put in a crappy situation and keeps grinding. Bernard’s role at Utah has mostly been the 2 or 3 back in the rotation adding more of a pass threat with solid run capability. Solid blitz pick up blocker in pass pro. Every down bell cow RB carrying the ball 20+ times a game is not his jam. Problem compounded by…[Read more]

Actually, not a bad idea. Huard has experience on the field beyond HS. I have always thought it was an adventure to defend a QB that you have not prepared for. We have two weeks and we always have the other two options. Ready several plays to run against a stacked box. It can’t get worse.
