National championship game perhaps, not even knowing who would be in it.

My first reaction was the same as yours. Former Army guy, and my friends son is a Freshman on the team.

If it takes 2 full offseasons to learn, that seems like non starter. Especially in the day and age of the portal.

Could you argue that this type of offense only worked because it often didn’t work and required a running QB to scramble and salvage a “blown up” play?

If you could pick any non-Utah, non-playoff football game to go to for the rest of this season, which one would you choose?
At this point, I’m picking Army vs Navy. Even if they both have 1 loss to Notre Dame, it’s going to be a fun one this year.

Here’s what shocks me…in the 2023 Spring Game, Rose showed the most talent and promise of all the QBs that played. That’s why everyone, myself included, that he was QB2 going into the season. Then he got injured in practice and narrative changed completely to one that he didn’t know the playbook. I’m still completely flabbergasted at that…[Read more]

Without being in the QB room, none of us can answer that. Ludwig himself says that it takes two FULL offseasons to completely install his offense.
One possibility is the number of decisions that a QB needs to make on each play. Another could be having 16 different ways to run to the A gap. A third could be the number of available options on…[Read more]

Totally agree with that. Not everyone wants to play in the NFL. Some guys have more brains than talent (e.g. Jack Tuttle) and use the system to have a good time at college and have all of their studies paid for. In today’s normal person environment, there’s nothing better than graduating from college with one or two degrees and no debt.

Plain and simple: He made it “complicated” by his asinine play calling and not utilizing his talent. Killing any sort of momentum with his own play calls. Which then makes everyone, players and fans, frustrated beyond belief. Let’s just be grateful he’s longer OC.

Okay, so we all saw these mind boggling plays. Why do we say that Ludwig stepping down was “falling on the sword”. He was the one calling these drive killing plays we’ve all seen.

man we ran so many reverse during the Covey days. They could all ended up as negative yards but Covey was magical in turning negative yards into chunk play. We just don’t have great players to bail us out from bad calls anymore

Ill admit I’m not a huge X’s and O’s guy, but I have been hearing that Luds offense is complicated and difficult to learn. What are we really taLking about here? I mean it’s a football play, just like every other team runs. Many teams run dynamic offenses that aren’t known to be “difficult” for the players to learn. Shouldn’t that have been a huge…[Read more]

“The lack of transparency is frustrating. It’s easy to sell something when you keep it hidden in a box, but once you reveal what’s inside, it becomes much harder to convince people to buy in. By restricting media and fans from seeing the reality of the team’s performance through practices or scrimmages, we’re left begging for crumbs from a paranoi…

Maybe BR is content with getting a paid for education, some team NIl cash, drive around in a free truck, enjoying the school and team/friends/college life. Not a bad gig. Crazy what college football has turned into.

IMO, over the years I don’t take everything coach Whitt says as gospel but more like with a grain of salt until the team passes the eyeball test, and even then, that can be hard until your star player or players go down at any given time during a season, then you will find out if the team goes from top 10 to mediocre. With that being said, I’ve…[Read more]

The worst was the reverse/QB pass at the start of the 2nd half in the Penn State Rose Bowl. Everything went sideways after that call.

Maybe it’s time we start the ultimate Quarterback experiment and give each QB on the roster one drive in the first half and then decide who’s the best for the second half.
