I think the issue here is that you’re confused what a playmaker is. It’s not just about making big plays. It’s about positioning the offense through the ability to make plays – either through the air or on the ground. It’s not just about making “big” plays and rather having a QB the coaches trust to make plays when it counts the most.

I’m not really sure why but you’re operating under some strange delusion that someone being the type to seek big plays (a playmaker) makes them good, or in your case, even categorically better than a game manager. These are just descriptions of styles. Bryson Barnes is also a playmaker, but he’s also not very good. Troy Williams was a game…[Read more]

I haven’t seen any official news about Salesi Moa’s announcement yet either. Usually these things get shared through the club’s social media or a quick press conference, so if it’s happening today, I’d expect it later this afternoon or evening. I’d keep checking their Twitter or Instagram since that’s where these updates tend to show up first.

Wilson was no where in the stratosphere of play maker, especially that 2015 season. Utah’s offense under Wilson was generally middling. Under BJ, Huntley and Rising, it was on a completely different level than anything we ever saw consistently under Wilson. I’ll concede of the game managers, Wilson was the best but he was far closer to the likes…[Read more]

  • Are you telling me its a “game time decision”?

  • haha, that is a good question. It is hard to tell with the way these threads are organized. It was in reply to Utah#1’s post.

  • Montanan checking in. I know there are two people on my street whose kids are attending Utah right now. considering how small we are, that feels significant.

  • Bro, calm down.

That’s interesting DT. I know he’s a strong receiver as well. He’d certainly pair well with the Pula kid. Dare I suggest letting him play two-way a little if he comes our way?

Thanks for setting me straight. Perhaps that makes us a little less enticing except he probably gets an opportunity for playing time even sooner on the offensive side of the ball.

  • Rick replied to the topic Salesi Moa update? in the forum Football 1 week ago

I hope he comes. If he’s thinking at all long-term Utah should be the choice given our coaching and the defense we play. Moa has all the intangibles to be an NFL free safety. Add our legacy at the safety position and we should be highly considered as long as the NIL is reasonable. I think BYU should get second consideration there given their…[Read more]

I believe he has an older brother on Michigan State’s roster. If I were to guess, he was a Utah lean, and then big brother pushed back on it. It might come down to whether he wants to play “with” family (re: Mich St), or “in front of” family (re: Utah).

    GO UTES!!!

if he LOVES UTAH he wouda committed ALREADY which means he doesn’t luv Utah and it’s about the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

AT this point I wouldn’t COUNT ON HIM committing and would cut him loose IN OUR MINDS

*** I GUESS THEY STOPPED POSTING THE X PREDICTION TO UTAH SINCE HE POSTPONED IT *** GOOD!!! I was getting so sick and tired of those stupid X post…[Read more]

  • Rick replied to the topic Where are our out-of-state fan hotspots? in the forum Misc 1 week ago

Sure we have hotspots – but largely in the West. There are significant Utah alums in LA, Orange County and San Francisco. Phoenix follows with the rest of the Western cities being a little less – Denver, Las Vegas, Boise and Portland.

Washington D.C. is right behind LA and Orange County.

Wilson wasn’t a game manager at all, he was actually a playmaker if you look at the two as opposite sides of a coin. He just wasn’t top tier at it. Wilson routinely pulled shit BJ never would including throws and risky runs. I feel like you’ve forgotten what it looked like to see wither of them play tbh.

  • BeachUte replied to the topic 4 star OL is committed in the forum Football 1 week ago

This just isn’t true and downplays BJ’s career here. He was not a game manager. He absolutely was a play maker whose stats more mirrored Rising than Wilson.

In 2015, Travis Wilson threw for 2,095 yards and had 13 touchdowns. In 2008, BJ threw for nearly 3,000 yards and had 27 touchdowns.

In 2022, Rising threw for 3,000 yards and 26…[Read more]

This is why the sharing is pointless. Schools with extremely deep pockets like Tech and BYU are still going to bypass it with independent NIL deals.
