If true, wonder if last season broke him? There were rumors that he and his parents basically made being Rising’s backup a contingent to him signing with Utah. If true, and I don’t really think it is, that could have majorly backfired on him.

Yeah. Utezone.com watched some of practice and said Wilson couldn’t even complete a pass (to an offense player).
They did talk up Nate Johnson a bit and were very high on the transfer running backs from Wash St., New Mexico and elsewhere.

If I understand it right, BYU’s roster size is significantly over the limit and they’re having to shed players. Doesn’t mean they can’t/won’t find a scholarship for talent.
Anyone know what our roster situation is? Proud is right, we need LB talent like this with Damuni leaving after this year.

There’s no such thing as logo luck.
But here are some stats on logos and uniform combos (in the order of helmet color, shirt color, pants color). -

It looks too similar to Houston’s logo, as well as other schools like Indiana and Oklahoma. The Drum and Feather has some similarities to the Washington Redskins logo but it is unique in the college game, looks way cleaner than the interlocking U’s, and with the Redskins name change it is now totally unique.
I know I’m just one fan, but I avoid…[Read more]

If Utah was still going down the apathetic Craig Smith-type road, I’d share your concern more. But I don’t think they are.
If in three years the disparity remains the same, I’ll reconsider my outlook. But I don’t think it will be.

He can do this because of the coaching change. Utah was recruiting this kid hard last fall. We could use another LB. I assume Whitt and Scalley are on this. I read that BYU really wants this kid.

You can Google Jaycie Underwod and Jimmy Rex Pocast. Jaycie talks about her BYU experience. Also, here’s an excerpt:

It looks like she’s found some healing after being absolutely drug through the BYU shame mud.

I don’t care bout BYU unless it affects us. My point is that we compete with BYU off the court for many things, like:
Donors (this is huge; we need John Hunstman Jr. to step up like his dad did.)
Fans (When Utah was on top of the world in 1998, many fans who were on the fence, became Utah fans. We need butts in the seats.)
TV time (In football…[Read more] -

Yeah that’s an embarrassing number of points to give up in the ncaa tournament.
Even all the low seeds last week didn’t give up triple digits in their games.
BYU is the only team to give up more than 100 points so far in the tourney.

Yeah I share some concern for the influx of money to BYU athletics, but it’s minimal.
The reason is, buying a bunch of players to come to BYU doesn’t guarantee them any success. If it did, a LOT of big schools who are already playing that game would be killing it. They’re not. Only some are.
Yeah, you have to pay to be competitive, but that’s…[Read more]

Smith is not even close to the biggest BYU donor, sadly. I’ve heard from a friend who knows their CFO who said that they tons of donors that do more than him and wish he’d do more.
The overall point of this thread still stands, though, Smith or no Smith.
