Why punish these kids just to delay the inevitable. It isn’t their fault that there are so many morons in this state that refuse to follow guidelines.

This isn’t about people not following guidelines. We’re talking about a contagious disease. Like you said, everyone is going to get it eventually whether you follow guidelines or not. What can be changed is how we deal with it when people do have it.

ummmmmmm…. It is absolutely about following guidelines. Look at places/countries where expert advice was heeded. Are they still dealing with this like the US? Nope.

Today’s a nice day. Do yourself a favor and go drive by the local playground. I don’t know what it’s like in SLC, but here in Utah valley, I drove by three different parks and each one had well over 50 people crammed into the playground because, “hey! It’s a nice day! WGAF about COVID, and WHAF about other people!” Out of at least 150 people I saw at those parks, only one… ONE ONE ONE had a mask. None of them were bothering to social distance.

If We had done what we should have, when we should have done it, this wouldn’t be happening right now. It’s that simple.

Those players getting COVID is only inevitable because the people around them are too wrapped up in themselves and their own desires to care about the effects that their actions have on others.

No, but in those countries you get arrested for walking your dog, you get roughed up by the police for not wearing a mask. We’re not them and that’s a good thing.

Not according to the truth or facts.

Ate you claiming that in Italy a woman was not arrested for walking her dog and that in Australia a woman was not roughed up for not wearing a mask? You say that’s factual? Do some research before you answer.

I love Utah football, and I’m devastated about the cancellation, but if this is what it costs for those people, especially the children, to live semi-normal lives, then I guess I’ll deal with it.
I really do hope we can get past COVID together, but I’m equally concerned for the emotional and mental well-being of everyone affected. I hope we can come together and find a good balance to be able to support each other and our individual needs.

Absent everyone isolating themselves completely, the virus is going to virus.

California has had some of the strictest lockdowns – and a populace that is generally in favor of the lockdowns (i.e., “following guidelines”), but the spike has happened regardless.

I agree with you that it is going to happen eventually to most all of us. Absent an absolute lockdown or a vaccine, there is no other way. A partial lockdown is just slowing the spread – but not stopping it. Which goes back to the origianl plan we were told: The primary objective is to ensure the medical system is not overwhelmed. Beyond that, everyone should make decisions for themselves and their health.

So Europe with all of its guidelines and lock downs did nothing for them. They are worse off than if the virus had run unchecked. Your guideline theory is way off and there are proven examples. It’s a virus and it will spread regardless of what we do until there is a vaccine or we hit some sort of immunity level. History has proved this over and over. I don’t understand why people think we can keep this in check with out literally shutting down EVERYTHING. This is not a solution and is worse than the deaths from COVID.

If we all get Covid we are staring down the barrel at 2-3 million deaths in the USA alone. That would be one of the biggest tragedies in world history. Herd immunity is not a viable strategy.

That would be horrible. But if we shut everything down, we have no food, no money, nothing. Mass starvation is not the answer. Even the WHO says shut downs are causing more harm than good since people have no food. The solution has to be somewhere in the middle. I agree Utahns should wear their damn masks. It doesn’t hurt anything to wear it. And I’m for social distancing, I hate people getting in space anyway.

Who says 2-3 million? That was the initial estimate that was later retracted because it was so flawed. Here’s the deal, we really don’t know how many will die but using that 2-3 M is just fear porn.

Depending on the arrival of a vaccine, not necessarily.

Rather than resigning ourselves to getting this, our attitude need to be to try to not get it. Especially because there’s a high probability of permanent neurological or cardiological damage.
