I was really impressed with how well they were coached. They showed how you can have solid play in the trenches from recruiting local boys and giving them solid coaching. They gave us the perfect game 1 situation IMO. No serious injuries that I’m aware of, gave us some things to work on, made us compete, but we still won relatively easily.

I am REALLY excited to see all of the UofU guys, and guys with connections to the state on that staff. I’m sure Swan will not be the last Weber State coach we get from those guys. Robert Conley, Dyson, Joe Dale from the UofU (along with the HC himself obviously). Then you’ve got an Ah You in there (Kingsley Suamataia is named after his uncle Kingsley Ah You, the Ah Yous are very very well connected in the Samoan/Hawaiian community both here in Utah and back home).

Anyone who is nervous about our coaches getting poached doesn’t need to be, we’ve got plenty of guys waiting for their opportunity while coaching at Weber State, ready to uphold the culture Whitt has established.

Some in the local media claim that Weber has 5 potential NFL guys on that team.  If this is true, Weber may be better than I thought.

I know that the one offensive lineman they have that got hurt is a prospect and the dude that returned the kickoff is also an NFL guy.  That was a really good FCS team we beat last night and a very well coached team.  I was impressed with the way our coaches and players adjusted to the hype of our first opening game in front of fans in over 600 days as well as how well we adjusted to the 90 minutes weather delay after the initial emotion and hype.  Also huge Kudos to Broughton for his on camera projectile vomiting after making a huge pass breakup in the end zone and then just playing as if nothng happened!  That was a pro move!

Ha ha. I had to rewind multiple times to show all in my household the chunk blowing, spew shot. It was like a firehose. Glad it didn’t hinder him.
