Any news on Mique Juarez? OnlyU??

First time posting here but have been following for awhile. I noticed Mique Juarez posted he finally completed his last 2 classes and has officially entered the transfer portal from UCLA. I thought he already transferred to Utah? It seems like we could use some more depth at LB. Even if he’s had health issues with too many concussions, I’d rather see us pick up a former 5* talent than another program, potentially in our conference. Thoughts?

Last I’d heard, he wasn’t going to be a Ute. I don’t have any details why. I could be health reasons, could be other reasons or a combination of things.

I’m not onlyU but Utah has moved on from him.

I believe the plan was for him to graduate last fall and enroll at Utah last January. That for whatever reason didn’t happen.

He’s had 3 reported concussions while at UCLA and probably more that went unreported. It’s 50/50 he’d even get medical clearance to play again anyway.

So I think the delay in getting his degree and the medical issues Utah really had no choice but to recruit over him.

I get the desire to play but he needs to consider the future. He’s got two young kids
a wife take your degree and start the rest of your life.

Retire you are a prime candidate to have CTE before you’re 30.

That makes sense, thanks for the info! I’m getting nervous about recruiting as I’m watching Oregon clean up out there. I know we are doing so much better as of recently but just hoping to see us take another step forward this year and keep the momentum going.

Utah doesnt have Nike money. Comparing yourself to schools with bigger donors will always be disappointing. Have fun watching the games, no matter the outcome.

Yea I’m definitely under no false illusions that we will be at the level of Oregon in regards to recruiting or in the Top 10. But I believe a realistic goal is to break into the Top 20. When Stanford was consistently at the top of the conference they seemed to be at that level and I think we should be able to get there as well if we stay consistent.

Yeah AZ and Central are right. Lot of other things going on in his life and was just never able to put it all together to be able to join the program. Last I heard he was still trying to play but it won’t be here.
