I’m neither excited, nor bummed about it. The more I look at who we have thus far, the more I see the type of team Jensen is going after. It seems to me that he is going after athletes that can, at the very least, play aggressive defense. I think that is a great foundation to build off of. That isn’t to say none of these guys can score, but they are athletic enough to at least keep games close through defense.

We are going to need a great rim protector or two to make that vision a reality, but I’m excited about the prospect of our team playing that style of ball.

With so many slots to fill, I’m excited to see where this ends up.

I’m with you. Far from bummed but also not “Holy cow! Wow!” yet. But the additions so far seem like a very positive step in the right direction. For the first time in nearly a decade I’m hopeful for the future of mbb. And just that alone is a nice feeling and a nice change. It’s been pretty grim for a while.

Yes. Over the past decade, it’s just seemed like men’s BB was a total afterthought and not a priority anymore because the school was so caught up with football.

I’ve been waiting for them to get serious again and I’m happy that time has returned.

I’m definitely on the excited side of the fence because we have picked up some good talent with our first few targets.

More good will come, and I trust Jensen to put together the team with the players he thinks will be successful.

AJ and his staff have a high basketball IQ. They know what it takes to win. Recruit athletes that can play defense. Develop an offensive scheme that fits their skill set. Houston has been the blueprint in CBB. AJ has commented on his admiration of Sampson and their style of play. Just the opposite of what we’ve been doing. Coach Smith and coach K to a lesser extent have recruited shooters and size. I know many armchair coaches on this site including me have been voicing our frustration with the lack of athleticism.
