Massey tends to have some intended, or unintended, slant toward “blue blood” programs. Saw an interview with the author once and he seemed to say it is intended. He believes that those programs and facilities tend to draw-in the best coaches and recruits, and tend rise as the season progresses regardless of record to date. Downside of that philosophy is that a program on the rise over several seasons will have a definite lag between achieving success and getting recognized in his system. Thus, I think its a good predictor of the “coaches” poll, which seems to be like-minded, not sure how good it is at predicting individual games.
