Matt Gay Released from Buccaneers

Any word on why Gay was released from Buccaneers? Did he have a bad 2019 or something? For some reason it’s in my head he had the job locked down.

I read somewhere he could hit the long ones but his mid range was not up to par.

Too inconsistent. He would make a 50+ yarder and then turn around and miss a PAT in the same game.

Raymond James Stadium must be haunted by ghosts of inconsistent kickers as it seems the Bucs haven’t had a great kicker since forever.  Maybe he’ll get picked-up by the Bearz or some other team with a really bad kicker.

“We can’t miss extra points,” Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians said earlier in the week. “We can’t give away the easy points. Kicks inside the 30-yard line should be automatic.”

I hope he gets another shot somewhere.
