      Tweet from Ross Dellenger

This is wild if true. I thought it was an error and they wanted into the Big Ten

Before the BigXII agreed to this, I’d be curious to see if Stanford, Cal, Oregon St, and Wazzou would ante up.

        That’d be nice.

I don’t think Cal and Stanford want the B12, and I don’t think the B12 wants Cal and Stanford.

Cal/Stanford care about a conference’s academics and B12 academics are just not good enough.

The B12 might be more open, but that’s a lot of new travel to introduce for two not very good football teams who don’t match the character of the conference.

I don’t think Oregon State or Washington State have the cash.

I wouldn’t hate Memphis, but I like the Big 12 as is. I could use a few years of the same before more realignment.

Also, 17 is a bad number. If they add Memphis, I hope they add Boise State, too. Not many eyes from Boise but the Broncos would contend.

Gawd. If being in a conference with TSPP isn’t enough, make it worse by adding Boise State. 🤮🤮🤮

So a one time payment of $11.7 million per team (assuming the conference HQ keeps an equal share for itself), and then what value would they bring to the future TV contracts? I can’t imagine it would be enough to increase the per team payout.

      Pass.

They aren’t really having to “pay” the $200 million. They just aren’t going to take any distributions from the big 12 for the next 5 years. I bet Oregon State and Wazzu would jump on that. It’s essentially what SMU did.
